Don't you just hate it when......

you get everything ready to make something like say a cake, and you get down to the vital ingredients like eggs and you don't have any....grrrrr!

or when you go to the bathroom and there is NO toilet paper...aaaaaaaah!

Is it too much to ask for them to let me know when we are out of things so that I can replace them, specially when they (dh & ds)both know I have to have this cake done by tonight for Young Marines????
Off to the Commissary!

That sucks!

(BTW- I just got your email a few minute ago. Is it too late to write? I'm babysitting today so I won't get a chance to do it until around 12-1. Let me know)

By Rayanne on Tuesday, January 31, 2006 - 01:13 pm:

That's happened to me before too. I hate it!!!

By Tink on Tuesday, January 31, 2006 - 01:29 pm:

Or when you have something set aside for a particular meal but your DH gets up for a midnight snack and decides that would be the perfect thing but doesn't tell you that he ate it and you find out at 6pm, halfway through your dinner preparations???

Umm...I guess that's happened a time or two around here!

Missing eggs are no big deal. Next time just substitute a tablespoon of water.

I've found lots of substitutions because of running out of stuff at the wrong time. :)

By Insaneusmcwife on Tuesday, January 31, 2006 - 03:03 pm:

Melissa-Don't worry about it, my sister took care of it. But thank you for asking.

Dawn-I didn't know water could be substituted for eggs. Thats cool. I'll have to remember that next time.

Tink-That wouldn't be a problem at my house because then we would just have to go out and eat, darn I didn't want to cook anyways! LOL!

So, he calls when I get back from the store and cant figure out why I am so upset. hmmm....maybe because if I knew this a.m. when I was out in the rain already I could have picked up some...MEN! LOL!

If i am short an egg, or sugar or something, i just call a neighbor and ask to borrow some. That's what neighbors are for.
I'm not sure if that works well on a military base though.

By Insaneusmcwife on Tuesday, January 31, 2006 - 03:43 pm:

in base housing I would go bug a neigbor but we are out in town and the people here are well....I'd rather drive to the store if you kwim.

By Cocoabutter on Tuesday, January 31, 2006 - 11:08 pm:

I used to be real bad at that. I'd get steaks at the store, and forget steak sauce. Or I'd get fish sticks and forget tartar sauce. Or I'd get chicken nuggets and forget the BBQ sauce. Or I'd make macaroni and cheese, and forget that we needed milk.

It's a good thing I live about a block away from a Meijer store!

By Insaneusmcwife on Wednesday, February 1, 2006 - 01:28 pm:

LOL Lisa! I have done that a few times. I bought taquitos but forgot the guacamole. Or I went and bought all the stuff for hamburgers and french fries and forgot the ketchup. That doesn't bother me as much as *knowing* I had the items and we ran out with out anyone saying anything. Thats like when the kids (dh included) break something and *forget* to tell me.

I live off base, and have great neighbors. I'm always borrowing stuff I've run out of, and so do they. I keep a dry erase board on the refrigerator, and DH better write it down when he uses the last of anything. LOL

By Insaneusmcwife on Wednesday, February 1, 2006 - 03:57 pm:

A dry erase board is an excellent idea. Now if I could actually get them to use it that would be a different story. I'm going to borrow your idea and try it out, thank you Bea!.
