I used the book bridal bargains by denise and alan fields to help me save on our wedding. It also had a few ideas for different aspects of the wedding.

I did my wedding for under $5000, but that was in 1987! I already had a dress, though!

Our wedding was a tad bit more than $5000 in 2001. We had a dj, a hall, tons of great food, an awesome cake, and a great time. Not to mention a ton of people. (Family is large.) My mil helped with everything. She's an angel! Lots of pointers in the book I mentioned.

We renewed our wedding vows on a daycruise. Dinner was included and everyone had a great time. We did it for under $5000. We also hired a minister and had a gorgeous cake made. My dress was bought from Jessica Mcclintock bridal. The kids were dressed in sailor outfits. It was great fun. There are lots of books out there with advice on planning reaffirmations. Have fun!
We are going to renew again in 2 years. This time we are going to Vegas and having "Elvis" marry us. LOL :)

We're going to do this for 20th or probably 25th. We just celebrated #15 in August. We did have a big wedding, but not a great reception. This time I want a big party with dancing! :) Sounds like fun Brandy!!

We're going to renew our vows, just between the two of us, on a beach in the Bahamas on our 10th. (2 years from now) I can't wait for it to be without anybody else...isn't that funny? Our wedding and reception was wonderful, but large. We did ours for around $7-8K, but I think weddings can definitely be done on a lower budget if you're creative. Good luck!!!

Our wedding was less than $5000 in 2002. We found a GREAT and cheap caterer who made what we had on our first date. Lasagna, ceasar salad, and garlic bread. It was only like $2.50 a plate and we got RAVE reviews. Some was meat lasagna and some was vegetaian spinach. Both were great. Use your resources, luckily one of my best friends had worked at a bakery making cake and she made a huge german chocolate cake for us as a present. I think it had 5 tiers. Evereyone said they get so sick of the typical chicken meal so we made ours different.
We rented a dance hall for the main part with 250 guests and actually got married the week before on a boat with 25 of our very best friends and family. In my oppinion the best part was on the boat. It is so special to see all your closest friends. (Not that aunt margaret first removed's second cousin isn't:))
Hope this helps! Just make it special for you and your husband and don't get too bent out of shape about other peoples oppinions. My in-laws were horrified we didn't serve wine!

I still plan on keeping it kind of low key lol we probably have about maybe 100 between all of the families = ) and friends i don't know maybe a few more = ) ..thanks for everyones suggestions ..i've been reading on theknot.com = ) and seeing all of the pretty cakes and dresses = ) i think i want a red dress i love red = ) ...but i'm not sure i might have a white dress with red throughout it?

Congrats!! I'll be happy to give you a hand, or an ear to bounce ideas off of!! You know where to find me!

Groove, your food would be my perfect meal! It is what we eat every Christmas Eve. That is great that it was so cheap!

Deanna, we might do something like that for our 10th in 4 years! SOOOO romantic! Since we are *older*, and this is not my first marriage, we aren't waiting for our 20th or 25th to do it.

Brandy, what's the most *important* part of it for you, the actual *ceremony*, or the party part?? In other words, which one would you like to spend the greater part of the money on?
