Oklahoma fires

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion Archive: Archive January 2006: Oklahoma fires
By Shann on Wednesday, January 4, 2006 - 04:53 pm:

for the past few months the surrounding areas have had bad grass fires which has burnt down alot of homes which is very scary to me and I told dh last night before we went to bed that it was a strange night for some reason well at 12:30 this morning we were woken up with someone one banging on our door. Our next door neighbor was saying theres a fire behind your home. Dh and I run outside to find the alley is on fire and the fire is heading to a home behind us. The fire dept (god bless them all) contained it.and it just burnt almost to the peoples back door. We also found out that the lot in front of us was on fire early and the fire dept got it out and then the one in back started. To scary and to close. It is so dry here and we have no rain in sight.

Oh my goodness! Yeah- that is a little too close to home. I am so glad it wasnt any worse.

My sister and bil live in Sperry just N of Tulsa. We lived in Jenks, yrs ago, and then Shawnee.

They were driving home from Dallas on Sunday and said there was smoke everywhere from the fires. :(

Wow...how scary. It is so dry there. We've been watching the news on all the fires. I've got friends and family in Oklahoma.

I lived in Broken Arrow for several years & worked in Tulsa for a few years.

I live in Tulsa and luckily haven't had any close calls, but they are asking for water and other donations for the volunteer fire department. We are all praying for rain.
