Back in the work force

Well after being a SAHM for 5 years now I am going back to work. I was offered a job from our school as the Pre-K Bus Aid. I start tomorrow if there is school. I think it will be snow day. If no school I start Wednesday. I am excited but yet nervous!
Its Alissa's Pre-K bus and I think it will be fun. Its a total of 5 1/2 hours a day. And this way when the kids are off school I am off work.
Wish me luck:)Feeling a bit nervous!

Oh, you'll enjoy it so much! I love working at my children's school! And it is so nice being able to work, but knowing you don't have to worry if kids are out of school for some reason, because so are you!!!

What exactly will you be doing? I love that age of kids! You'll do great! Let us know how your first day goes!

^5 to you!!

Good luck!

Sounds like an ideal situation as far as work schedule / home schedule goes. Hope it goes well for you. It will certainly give you a lot of scope for practicing your parenting skills.

Sounds like fun! Do the Pre-K kids ride in school buses or vans? Are they required to have car seats?

Heavy snow predicted in our area, too. I wonder if they'll cancel or not.

Ooh, that sounds like an ideal work schedule! I hope you enjoy it. Let us know how your first day goes.

Congratulations! Can't wait to hear how it goes :)

I might be returning to the work force in a month or so...I'm pretty nervous.

By Kernkate on Monday, January 2, 2006 - 08:57 pm:

Thanks all. I am guessing they will cancel tomorrow. We have 5 inches of snow already! So that gives me another day to be nervous!
We have the mini buses for the Pre-K all have harness seat belts. So my job will be buckling all the little ones in and making sure they do behave. We will have 8 kids in the a.m. and 12 in the p.m.
I feel very lucky to have been asked if I was interested.

Cool! Now that's a job I would like! :)

I would like a job like that too! :)

That's wonderful! Good luck!

Kath, that sounds like a great job!

Don't be nervous, you will do a great job, think positive.

I can't believe you have that much snow. It has been raining here since Sunday night (thank goodness). If it would have been snow, I don't want to think about it.

Good luck and have fun!

Have fun. Sounds like an interesting job!

We had rain all day yesterday. Our snow is 99.9% gone!

By Kernkate on Tuesday, January 3, 2006 - 08:42 am:

Well I will have to be nervous another day. School is closed with 8 inches of snow and it keeps coming down. The joys of living in the northeast.

By Debbie on Tuesday, January 3, 2006 - 08:56 am:

It sounds like a fantastic job, Kathy. Good luck with it, I am sure you will do great.

By Conni on Tuesday, January 3, 2006 - 09:00 am:

I would love to have 8 inches of snow or 8 inches of rain for that matter! It is so dry around here. :( The kids would be in heaven if they could gets nowed in and play in the snow...

Congrats on your new job! Good luck to you! I know you will do a great job!

I have been throwing around some ideas about what I want to do when I grow up... Errrr, I mean when Blake starts school full time. :) So far there is nothing I want to do more than stay home. lol

By Happynerdmom on Tuesday, January 3, 2006 - 09:23 am:

Well just got done with the first run of the day now I am home until 10 and back out. So far so good! The kids are so cute:) I had 8 Pre-Kers on the bus.
Just to get into the swing of things and I will be ok!
