Computer type question Ipod/MP3

Silly question, I know but what is the difference between these two things? I'm planning on starting to walk more (if I don't freeze to death) and thought one of these might be good but didn't know what the difference was.

Ipod is just the "Apple" brand of an MP3 player. I will admit to loving the prestige and the fun accessories that are available with an Ipod but I got a much nicer MP3 player for Christmas for the same amount we would have spent on an Ipod. The biggest drawback for me was being limited to only downloading music from the ITunes site. HTH :)

So I have an PC, not an apple computer. Does that mean that I have to get an MP3. I am just going to use it to put some music on to walk with. Don't even know how to use the "fun accessories" that come with my cell phone...just need the basics.

No, we don't have an Apple (Mac) & my son got an IPod for Christmas. I agree that a regular MP3 allows you to download from more souces than the IPod! I'm disappointed that we can't downlaod from Wal-Mart, although I did figure out how to give my son a monthly allowance of songs in ITunes! I've set it for $10 per month to be deposited into his ITunes account. I'll be monitoring his time on ITunes though.

If your using your player while you walk you might want to look into some podcasts to! Might be a nice change! :)

We dont have a Mac/Apple. Ds got the Ishuffle for Christmas as it was a good deal at Sam's club. Dh just had to learn how to use the software that came with it- now they are able to load music on the Ishuffle w/ no prob's at all. HOWEVER- we have not used the Itune's site yet since we had downloaded ALOT of music yrs ago when it was free on Napster, etc... We have just kept all those files... We also buy alot of CD's and we put music from the CD's onto the MP3's.

We have 4 Mp3's here. 2 Rio brand Mp3 players (dh and I like them).

12yo ds got the RCA brand MP3 player this yr for his bday from my ex. He has had no issues with it and figured out very quickly how to get music onto it. This ds is a computer nerd already.

13 yo ds has the Ishuffle- now he really likes it. At first he was frustrated/worried about it. lol He is enjoying it.

Dell has one that I am interested in. If you're interested in Dell's at all you could look at it on their website...

Burning full CDs and/or sharing complete CDs with friends to download into MP3s is illegal. There is some exception about CD mixes though. Also that Napster music, even though it was downloaded before Napster was found in violation of copyright laws, is illegal as well. It all boils down to musicians and ultimately writers and artists losing money on their personal creations. I know this kids probably didn't stop and think about copyright laws before sharing and I'm sure it wasn't intentional, but definitely something to consider.

Dd and I both got the ipod shuffles for Christmas as well. Now that I have everything figured out and working right, I LOVE it!! Actually, I am getting ready now to go to Best Buy and get a couple of the accessories for it.

Tink, I do understand that we can only download music from itunes, but I do have a question if you (or anyone else) knows. Can you download music from WalMart etc onto disks and then transfer them to the library and then into the ipod?? I haven't tried it yet as I don't have any disks, but was planning on getting some at Best Buy.

Vicki, I may be wrong but I think that the Wal-Mart downloads are a diff file and wont work. I *think* thats what my dh said... Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
