IPod Shuffle Frustrations

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion Archive: Archive December 2005 : IPod Shuffle Frustrations
By Mommyof5 on Friday, December 30, 2005 - 03:08 pm:

My dd received an iPod shuffle for Christmas. After a few hours we were able to download music from iTunes but I am dissapointed in the battery life and the way it needs to be charged (USB port on the p.c.). I was hoping to borrow it from her next week as I am going to Mississippi to help with clean up from Katrina. It is a 17 hour drive from where I live and space is limited in the vans so I thought it would be perfect. Since I won't have access to a computer for a week I bought the USB adapter at $30.00. I CAN NOT get the iPod to fit into the adapter port...I AM SO FRUSTRATED WITH THIS THING. There is another adapter that allows it to run on batteries...also for an extra $30 but then it no longer would fit in the protector case. I am so wishing that I wouldn't have spent almost $100 on this thing that requries another $60 just to function in a manner I find acceptable.

I am really sorry to hear about some people having such problems with their ipod shuffle, my son got one for Christmas also, and it has been wonderful. We haven't charged it since Christmas day, and he, my husband, and I have been using it daily, and it still doesn't need to be charged. I didn't have to buy anything extra for it either, I really don't understand what could be the problem with yours. I hope you can get it working the right way, I think it is such a cool thing, I think I might even buy my husband and myself one soon.

I can relate a little to your frustrations. I had a heck of a time getting music to play on ours. Dd and I each got one from dh and I just got them both up and running between yesterday (mine) and hers this morning. I did manage to get hers on the laptop though, so I was happy with that. How long did your battery last? I would say that dd used hers today for about 2 and a half to 3 hours straight and her battery is still going strong. I haven't used mine for that long of a stretch yet though. How long can I expect it to last?? Sorry your having such problems too!!

I am sorry you are having such problems. My ipod shuffle will last for about 12 hours after it is charged. How long is yours lasting? Also, I don't know what type of adapter you bought, but I purchased a charger that goes directly into any wall outlet. It makes it easier to charge. I think I paid $30.00 for it.

Her iPod is lasting a few hours and then needs re-charged. I bought the adapter that plugs right into the wall and the connector on the iPod will not go in. Maybe hers has a bad battery to begin with or there is something wrong with the USB connector???

It sounds like something is wrong with the connector or battery. It should last a lot longer then just a few hours.

My dd got an IPod mini last year. Thank goodness I bought the Product Replacement Plan from Best Buy. We had to return it because it wasn't staying charged. We got her a Kodak digital camera this year, using the BB voucher. I have to return that on Tuesday because the camera is not recharging. Big pains in the butts! :)
