I am going to my great aunt's 100th birthday celebration today. After a lot of thinking and shopping, I decided to get her a pretty, handmade pot from a local potter w/paper white bulbs in it so she can see them bloom. My mum told me that she (my aunt) is a bit sad because she has outlived all of her friends and most of her siblings.

This is also the very first birthday party that she has ever had. Which I found hard to believe, but apparently she spent her childhood taking care of her 7 brothers and sisters, and since her birthday is actually on Christmas Eve, no one ever really gave her any kind of party. I want to put something special on the card w/the bulbs but I need some ideas. TIA

I have no clue... But I bet if this is truly her first party she will be so overwhelmed she won't really care... I would just go towards the type of relationship I have with her.. If it is loving look for a loving card, if it is filled with humor look for a funny one... I hope it is a wonderful party...

Colette, even if its late you can write to the white house and get a birthday card sent from the prez and his wife. Even if you do not like the current president I think its an awesome gift to ive! I started doing that for my Grandpa after he became an octagenerian (sp?). I think that's when they start. For others interested, you can also receive congrats on your baby's birth, I have one from Clinton for my son ( I think). Let me see if I can find it. As I said, it will not get there right away but its really cool!

Maybe you can call the number listed and ask if she can still get one? Being 100 years old is pretty special!!!!!

Thanks Kim, I'll try that! Maybe I can get it for next weekend.
