Oh dear - I am getting addicted to baby departments

The day we went to see my beautiful granddaughter, I went over to Sears and got five outfits. I stopped at a small mall after church today to get a few items from the grocery store, and lo and behold there was a new Burlington Coat Factory store there. I needed something for the office holiday party, so I decided to shop. I got a really nice top to go with some dressy slacks for the party, and a couple of blouses, and then ... I decided to look in the baby department.

Big mistake. I got the Baby Bundles I am asking Trina about (a zip bag with plush lining, instead of blankets, when you take the baby out in our cold weather). And a plush pink sleeping bag with a hood. And an adorable little white footed playsuit with tiny holly leaves and berries on it, and matching hat with red bow, for Christmas. And three more outfits. And a pack of footed playsuits. And the most adorable tiny pink shoes. (You must know, this is probably the first time in my life I have described an article of clothing as adorable.)

Oh well, I guess I've gotten my Christmas shopping done for Brooke. But I'm going to send the Baby Bundles and the Christmas outfit right away, so they have them. Of course, if her other grandmother has also gotten something for Christmas, that will be interesting.

I have absolutely got to stay away from the baby departments!!

Your posts about your granddaughter always make me smile. It is obvious that you are having the time of your life being Grandma. What a lucky little girl Brooke is to have you!

I can imagine being that kind of Grandma, Ginny! LOL!

Do you live far away from them Ginny?

My mom was the same way;) It's good to have grandmothers!

Ginny,

You sound like my Mother, I have so much stuff I don't know what to do with it all. I have tubs and tubs of clothes and blankets and hats and shoes and on and on.

One word of advice, if I may, buy the baby stuff in larger sizes. I have newborn/infant stuff that has only been worn once and I had two babies back-to-back. I found for us anyway, because the little ones slept to much they were in sleepers for the first 3 months.

The sizes I got the most use out of so far are 12 mos. 18 mos. and 24 mos. I know that these clothes might seem huge now but it won't be long, they grow so fast.

Enjoy your grandbaby!

ITA with this advice. I found with each child that I had a ton of stuff for the first nine months or so. After that I suddenly discovered that my babies had outgrown everything.

Shop away...it's your privilege!!! :)

yeah, I tend to buy baby stuff in larger sizes, too, since they grow so fast! One of my friends had a 5-pound baby. I bought him something teeny-tiny. Well, by 5 months old, this kid weighed 20 pounds! I'm sure he barely wore my outfit.

Marg, they are about a 40 minute drive away.

Yes, I know all the advice about buying larger sizes, and I bought 3-6 and 6-9 month clothes the first time. But when we were visiting, Lori complained that all of her friends told her she wouldn't need any of the infant, 0-3 month size stuff and to exchange it, which she did, and now poor little Brooke doesn't have anything that fits - it's all too big. So I bought a few 0-3 month things - the 3-pack of footed sleepers, the Christmas outfit, and one other. The fuzzy sleeping bag is supposed to go up to 9 or 12 months.

And besides - almost all of her clothes are green or yellow or white. It is so much fun buying PINK!

Girls are so much fun to shop for. You are in trouble. There is everything under the sun to buy. Barettes and little bows and patterned stockings and patent leather shoes and everything cute.

Boys it is all sports themed. Boring....

That baby bundle will be GREAT for her. We had one that was made for my ds when he was born. It was so nice. Kept him warm and cozy in the seat even while carrying him through the pouring rain! They will LOVE it!
