What do YOU want for Christmas?

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion Archive: Archive December 2005 : What do YOU want for Christmas?
By Yjja123 on Wednesday, November 30, 2005 - 10:10 am:

What is the one thing you are wishing for?
I want a wetsaw/bandsaw for cutting glass. My hubby thinks it is hilarious that I want tools this year. In previous years I have wanted jewelry. Times are a changing. LOL.
What do you want? Do you buy your own gifts or does your husband/children buy for you?

By Cat on Wednesday, November 30, 2005 - 10:46 am:

I already got my luxury appliances. :) I told dh he's buying me a house for Christmas. Well, we're buying each other a house anyway. :)

By Boxzgrl on Wednesday, November 30, 2005 - 10:53 am:

I want a VitaMix but I doubt i'll get that when they cost $400.

By Jackie on Wednesday, November 30, 2005 - 11:01 am:

Honestly, I dont know. :)

By Heaventree on Wednesday, November 30, 2005 - 11:40 am:

I want an MP3 player, have been hinting for years!

I'll have to go out and get my own I think.

By Kaye on Wednesday, November 30, 2005 - 11:42 am:

I want new dishes! I have decided that I want fiestaware and would like to toss out all my old stuff. I also have several scrapbooking things on my list, some pampered chef stuff, and some bath and body works stuff. This is the first year i have really been able to come up with a BIG list!

By Truestori on Wednesday, November 30, 2005 - 11:52 am:

I raked in on my Birthday so I think Christmas will be small gifts from the heart..lol

We always get eachother something so I will probably ask for a light jacket and sunglasses.

By Bellajoe on Wednesday, November 30, 2005 - 12:03 pm:

I want an iPod, just like last year. Maybe i will get one this time!

By Mrsheidi on Wednesday, November 30, 2005 - 12:06 pm:

World peace...since I doubt that will happen...inner peace. A massage. :)

By Breann on Wednesday, November 30, 2005 - 12:07 pm:

I really can't think of anything I want or need. There just isn't anything that is grabbing my attention this year.

By Shellyg on Wednesday, November 30, 2005 - 12:27 pm:

I want the dark brown Uggs with the zipper down the side, a few things from Sephora (makeup), and a new stereo for the living room.

By Paulas on Wednesday, November 30, 2005 - 12:45 pm:

I want a pair of curling shoes and maybe a new curling broom (I'm still using the old kind with the bristles).

By Unschoolmom on Wednesday, November 30, 2005 - 01:02 pm:

Yvonne - I'm with you! I want a Dremel or any rotary cutting tool so I can...uh...get into modding computer cases. Basically like tricking out a sports car except doing that with a computer case. :)

By Debbie on Wednesday, November 30, 2005 - 01:05 pm:

I am going on a girl's trip with some friends in the Spring, so that is my Christmas present. I can't wait for March!

By Yjja123 on Wednesday, November 30, 2005 - 01:25 pm:

Kaye---Check out Amazon.com for Fiestaware. I looked everywhere for mine and ended up getting the best deal buying from them. I love them! I have the scarlet red set.

By Missmudd on Wednesday, November 30, 2005 - 01:44 pm:

I want a vacation for 2 days or so with no kids or dh either. Just quiet, and a book and a bottle of wine. It has been a crazy last couple of months.

By Mommybug77 on Wednesday, November 30, 2005 - 01:55 pm:

Well I asked for small items.... cds, dvd's & board games. Dh got me a new computer instead on Black Friday. It was a nice surprise. I will get other stuff since I shop for myself. The girls usually go with my MIL to shop for me. I take them to shop for each other. They also bought Dh 2 Star Wars movies.

By Enchens on Wednesday, November 30, 2005 - 04:20 pm:

Stuff for my new kitchen-little things like a colander, a couple of lazy susans to help organize my shelves, stuff like that.

By Conni on Wednesday, November 30, 2005 - 04:33 pm:

Oh Yvonne, you just had too ask didnt you?! :) lol

If I had to give someone a list- it would be as follows: (keep in mind i really dont NEED a thing in the world! but if you ask I can comoe up with LOTS of *wants* )...

*clothes (jeans, skirts, pants, sweaters, shirts, jogging suits and jogging shoes (any and all shoes welcome here!)

*V.S. perfume and PJ's and a new robe that is lighter weight in white or pink

*brown leather jacket

*red leather jacket

*A black and creme Prada purse from Sam's CLub...thats a joke in my house... lol I will be asking for it for many yrs too come. :)

*A jewelry armoire - I have it picked out at Tuckers Furniture store...but would be thrilled with the one from WalMArt!

*Silver jewelry from Silverland in Amarillo, TX...I could use more necklaces.

*chrome tube rails to go down the sides of my truck. chrome brushguard. bigger wheels and tires. cool chrome wheels would be way cool...

plane tickets too ANYWHERE... or a cruise...:)

a rather large gift certificate to an interior outlet so i can redecorate some rooms in my house. :) :)

* entertainment ctr for my living room- i have had it picked out for 3 yrs and counting.

I really dont *want* for alot as you can see.

I certainly dont NEED a thing! And I am very thankful for that. We are very fortunate in my house thanks to the good Lord above. Very blessed here.

By Tink on Wednesday, November 30, 2005 - 05:06 pm:

I've asked for new pj's, mani/pedi gift certificate, a new Crock Pot, new sheets (we got a new king sized bed and I just bought cheap sheets for it), and a steam cleaner. What will I end up? Who knows but I sure do want all of that!

By Annie2 on Wednesday, November 30, 2005 - 07:40 pm:

bread machine, Lovely perfume, certain books from my list and a new lightweight robe.

By Dawnk777 on Wednesday, November 30, 2005 - 07:56 pm:

Oh man. I don't know. I would like some confetti card stock for printing out cards on the computer.

New cds would be nice, like the Wow 2006 worship music.

I have Columbia boots that are nice, for when I'm out and about in the snow, but they tie and I have to sit down to get them on. I have some older boots that tie and I can easily pop them on, for going out with the dog. They are wearing out, though. I think the liner is going to heck on them. I would like new boots that don't tie, for going out with the dog. The cheapest I have seen for a pair of boots is $50. It just seems a lot of money for something I would just pop on, to go out with the dog. I use the boots long after the snow is gone, since grass is very wet, in the evenings. So, maybe I could justify the expense. I like the Lands End Extreme Squall boots, I think!

Lands End clothes so gift card would be nice

A French horn (yeah right!) (you didn't say it had to be practical!)

Lands End clothes so gift card would be nice

Dyson Animal vacuum cleaner, since some of the people on my dog board RAVE about theirs.

An All-Clad frying pan (the one they use on all the cooking shows, with the sloping sides.)

By Vicki on Wednesday, November 30, 2005 - 07:58 pm:

Oh Conni, I had to LOL at your post. It brought back a wonderful memory of my mom. (she passed 18 years ago) She had a dark blue big fluffy robe. For Christmas, she mentioned to my dad that she would like a lighter one.... he bought her the SAME robe but in light blue... LOL. Make sure you say you want a lighter WEIGHT robe. LOL

By Missbookworm on Wednesday, November 30, 2005 - 08:43 pm:

I want to be able to spend Christmas with my children. :(

This year it's their dad's "turn" to have them that part of the holiday...

Present wise, I wanted an mp3 player..but my friend in the states is getting me one for my birthday...

BOOKS! I ask for books every year.

I'd love to get more canvas's, an area rug for my basement (I paint down there), a heater for my basement (it's too cold down there to paint now), hmm I'm sure I could come up with a million ideas.

My children always make me presents. My bf has always bought me cool stuff every year...

I'd LOVE to get a carpet cleaner (the steam kind), a dremel would be so cool! So would a power saw, paints for on glass, a power sander....

Does that make me the third one to ask for power tools? lol

By Cocoabutter on Wednesday, November 30, 2005 - 09:22 pm:

A new house :)

By Wandilu on Wednesday, November 30, 2005 - 09:36 pm:

I want one of those Hometics back massager, the one with the mechanical thumbs that go up and down your spine and lower back.I tried one at Sam's and it was wonderful.I'd REALLY like to have one of the massaging chairs, but they are wayyyy too expensive. If I ever get rich,or hit the lottery( tee hee )that chair will be the first thing I buy for myself.

By Kernkate on Thursday, December 1, 2005 - 12:48 pm:

I like gift certificates so I can go on a shopping spree:)

By Babysitbarb on Thursday, December 1, 2005 - 02:29 pm:

I wanted a new computer but, Im getting a new TV instead. Thanksgiving evening we were watching our big 36 inch TV in the living room and it snapped all of a sudden and made a sizzling sound and started smoking. We hurried and upplugged it and went the next day to buy another.
Of Course the new one isn't coming until the 15th because it was such a good deal they ahve them on back order. We got a 46 inch by the way along with a corner stand to set it on because the old entertainment center won't hold it.

By Conni on Friday, December 2, 2005 - 10:51 am:

My dh asked me what I wanted for Christmas this morning... I said... 'Ahhh nothin' really...' ROFL Then I laughed to myself about the list I had posted above. :)

He is getting a new *scope* for his gun, for Christmas. His bday is next week- the kids are getting him clothes and I am getting him a new deer stand that we can both sit in together... Is that a self serving gift on my part? lol

By Yjja123 on Saturday, December 3, 2005 - 11:14 pm:

I got the band saw!!! :) It will be here Tuesday. Hubby is going to install a utility sink in my studio so I will have a water source for it. I am so excited!

By Colette on Sunday, December 4, 2005 - 10:44 am:

Good soy candles from Bennington Candle co, incense, books or gift cert. to a book store, good wine, homemade soaps, silver jewelry, any kind of thing for my gardens and perfume.

By Insaneusmcwife on Monday, December 5, 2005 - 07:41 am:

There is a sewing machine I have had my eye on that does embroidery that I can hook up to my computer and use any image I want. Its the Quantum Futura and its $700. I think I'm going to have to wait for that :)

By Conni on Monday, December 5, 2005 - 11:00 am:

Ok, I am bummed they didnt have the deer stand anymore. :( They didnt have the scope in stock he wanted either. argh...

Glad to hear you got the saw Yvonne!!! Thats exciting. :)

Kristie, I looked at some sewing machines last yr like that. I was soooo impressed with them. I ended up going to Wal-Mart and getting a cheap one tho. I dont know how to sew, I couldnt see spending that much on one for me. I hope you get one soon!! :)

By Feona on Monday, December 5, 2005 - 12:08 pm:

Usually I want something that needs to be fixed around the house. I asked for a recharger for the cellphone for the car.

By Missbookworm on Monday, December 5, 2005 - 03:53 pm:

Awwwwwww Connie! :( That's too bad..I know there is nothing I like less then having a great gift in mind...and then not being able to get it.

I'm having a hard time deciding what to get my guy for Christmas still. He's the guy who has EVERYTHING pretty much. The one thing I know he wants is a hardy silex reel for his rod and they're next to impossible to find out here! I've tried. I don't do credit cards so I can't just order one online either. *sigh* so I'm with you.

By Imamommyx4 on Monday, December 5, 2005 - 08:28 pm:

Conni
Does you dh have to circle stuff in a catalog for you or give you catalog numbers? My dh always wants some sort of gun stuff. I couldn't pick anything out in that line if I had to.

By Dawnk777 on Monday, December 5, 2005 - 11:53 pm:

I thought of another thing. Since I got my bifocals (varilux, with the different fields for seeing different distances), I can see fine and I can read better and for the most part, I love them! It's a vast improvement over single-vision glasses.

However, the close-up field is at the bottom, which is perfect for reading, but is sub-optimal for reading music, while I play my piano. I have to tilt my head back to get the correct field to see my music. It's NOT a good thing. I think I need a pair of single-vision glasses, so I can play my piano, without killing my neck! I must be quite the sight at home, playing Christmas carols, with my head bent way back!

By Imamommyx4 on Tuesday, December 6, 2005 - 01:43 pm:

Collette--I had never heard of soy candles, but...
we went to Gatlinburg this past weekend and bought one not realizing it. It is a Beanpod soy candle. The scent is Clove pomander. Every time I smell it, it is like Christmas. I love it. We have an artificial tree this year and the scent of that candle makes up for not having the real tree.

My question--what is so big about the soy candle versus any other kind of candle? Just curious as I know nothing about soy candles other than I love this one. The scent fills the whole house.

By Insaneusmcwife on Tuesday, December 6, 2005 - 01:48 pm:

Connie- I've looked at the ones at Wal-Mart but none of them can hook up to the computer :(. I hope to get my machine with our tax return but I'm not going to hold my breath. I have a regular sewing machine, well 2 actually one is really old (got it in 9th grade). I promissed dh I would get rid of both of them if I can get the one I want.

Dh wants a motorcycle :( sigh!

By Vicki on Tuesday, December 6, 2005 - 01:48 pm:

Soy candles are supposed to burn cleaner and cooler allowing the scent to come off better. The most important thing to avoid soot with any candle is to keep the wick trimmed though. I have had beanpod before and they are pretty good!!

By Yjja123 on Sunday, December 18, 2005 - 04:58 pm:

Can you believe....the saw arrived broken! :( Luckily they immediately shipped a new one.

By Dawnk777 on Sunday, December 18, 2005 - 05:14 pm:

Yvonne, that's awful. Fortunately, they are shipping out a new one!

By Luvn29 on Sunday, December 18, 2005 - 05:32 pm:

I just discovered the new shiatsu/rolling massager cushions that you place on a chair. My hubby and I were in radioshack looking around, and they had two chairs set up in front of the flat screens, so we tried them out and I was in HEAVEN!!! I have severe pain with my disabilities, so this felt great. They're awfully expensive, don't know if I'll get one. I really liked the more expensive one because you could use the remote to move the massagers around to different areas, whereas the cheaper one only went up and down on each side of your spine... Before I felt this, I really didn't have anything I specifically wanted...

I also want a Precious Moment figure for my collection, but I know I'll get that because it is tradition for my kids to go with daddy to pick out the perfect one to add to my collection.
