UGH! So sick of cleaning puke!

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion Archive: Archive November 2005: UGH! So sick of cleaning puke!
By Insaneusmcwife on Thursday, November 24, 2005 - 06:40 pm:

Unfortunately last night my dd started getting sick right after dinner. She threw up repeatedly during the night and at about 4 this a.m. dh joined her. This as sad as it may sound made me want to jump for joy. I don't know if any of you remember last year before dh left for Iraq, dd had to be hospitalized for an intestinal problem. Her intestine folded inside itself. I was so scared that this is what was happening again until dh decided that it was not fair for dd to be sick by herself on Thanksgiving. Isn't he sweet, They have been taking turns making me crazy all day. I feel really bad for them, neither one of them can move with out getting sick. My entire upstairs has that sick smell. Its really disgusting. On a brighter note, ds and I snuck away to the grocery store and bought a turkey so hopefully this weekend we can have our Thanksgiving. I was so bummed to have to cancel with Jackie. We were all really looking forward to spending the holiday with her and her family. Ok enough feeling sorry for myself. I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Well, from the sounds of it, it was certainly better than yours. DH and I grilled babyback ribs and had a really lazy day. It was nice.

Sorry your family is sick, I hope you and DS don't get sick too! Happy Thanksgiving!

:( My sister couldn't come to my house for Thanksgiving today because she was sick. (from both ends,IYKWIM) Hopefully everyone's feeling better soon, and you can have a delayed Thanksgiving meal. (((hugs)))

I hope everyone starts to feel better soon and that you and ds don't come down sick!

They are both feeling better today. Dd is still acting like she has an upset stomach unless we are not watching and then she is tormenting her brother. So, with dh's help (for the first time ever with a meal like this) I am making our Thanksgiving dinner. Usually he is busy entertaining our guests and will help me clean up after all the cooking is done. I even recreated a pumpkin cream cheese roll that I bought at Walmart for $6.00 and I don't even think that it was half as big. Hopefully it will taste just as good.

Sorry you had a pukey Thanksgiving--in more than one way. Glad everyone is feeling better though! :)

One of my sisters and both of her children were sick too. Hope everyone is feeling better soon.

Bless your hearts and tummies. I so sympathize. DD had it, then I had it, then dh got it. Bad 24 hr bug for us. One little thing I do to help lessen the amount of cleanup is a what I call a puke bucket. I have one of those gallon buckets that ice cream comes in and I line it with toilet paper. After the first unexpected throw up, I get out the bucket. After each incident, it easy to dump down the toilet, rinse and reline. And you can keep it with you so you don't have to try to make it to the toilet with a little one. Dd threw up 15 times the night she had it and I was giving her Phenergan.

LOL Debbie I thought I was the only one with a puke bucket! DS had it Tuesday night into Wednesday and then DH got it Wednesday night but was better for Thanksgiving. Its the 24 hour thing going around all over I guess.

By Dawnk777 on Saturday, November 26, 2005 - 09:45 am:

You guys keep all that puking away from my house, okay? Everyone is good here! I'm so glad that Emily got her appendix out last year. She hasn't been sick once, since her surgery on New Year's Eve! She puked way more than anyone should ever have to, all last year!

By Insaneusmcwife on Saturday, November 26, 2005 - 09:08 pm:

Well ds and I both got it last night and dd started again today as well. It has been a very lazy day for all of us here.

By Bellajoe on Saturday, November 26, 2005 - 11:22 pm:

Kristie, your house sounds just as fun as my house. As i posted before, our Thanksgiving was cancelled because me and both kids were sick and throwing up. We have gotten better but now dh is puking. :( I hope things get back to normal and everyone in all our houses get better very soon!!

Hopefully this is our fill of the flu for this year and we can all stay healthy the rest of the season.

My ds didn't feel so well tonight. I hope he doesn't get it. He is very prone to those stomach bugs.

Don't forget to sanitize the upstairs as soon as you can. Open the windows and wash all the blankets. Go around with a can of Lysol or a rag soaked in bleach/water and get all the door knobs and light switches, the toilet flusher and the faucet handles, anything that gets touched by all members of the family. And don't forget to get new toothbrushes.

Good luck!

Oh no Kristie. Im sorry you and your son are now sick. You all take care, and feel better soon.

By Dawnk777 on Sunday, November 27, 2005 - 06:22 pm:

Yikes. Hope everyone is feeling better soon!

We are feeling much better. The kids are going to school today and dh returned to work. I have a doctors appointment today to see if I can return. I have been off on a doctors note for over a week due to my asthma and bronchitis. I'm hoping to return to work as I am feeling better and we really really need the money.
Lisa-Thank you for all the cleaning tips. I did just what you said so hopefully it won't come back. How is your ds?
Patti-I'm sorry you had such a crummy holiday as well. Is your dh feeling any better?

By Cocoabutter on Monday, November 28, 2005 - 09:05 am:

Yes, ds is fine- Thanks for asking!

He slept for 12 hours that night, so if he was coming down with something, he must have fought it off.

By Insaneusmcwife on Monday, November 28, 2005 - 09:35 am:

Glad to hear he is feeling better!
