First big term paper in college...

I had my first big paper due in English last week and was so stressed about it. It was the first real assignment I'd had in over a decade!

I received an "A" on it with some very good comments. My professor also e-mailed me and gave me some titles of books that I would enjoy and stated that it "has been a very rewarding experience" having me in his class!!!

I am so thrilled. This has done tons for my self esteem. I feel like I can accomplish anything on my way to my degree now!

DEFINITELY a confidence-builder, which always makes it a tiny bit easier the next time!

Woohoo! I thought term papers in college were actually kind of fun. In my growth and development class, we could contract for our grades. I made the term paper the most important thing for me, because I knew I could do a good job on it!

Although, you are so lucky to be able to type yours on a computer! I graduated from college in 1983 and still had to type mine on a typewriter! Although, thank goodness, it was an electric typewriter. The very next semester, after I graduated, one of my sisters had a rudimentary computer, with Word Perfect on it! I JUST missed the computer age, for college! (Now, I feel old, too!)

AWESOME!

I used to be great at term papers. I was actually excited about it. But along with my disability is problems with putting thoughts together, and focusing, and that type of thing. There's always words there I want to use, but I am unable to "pull" them from my brain. My heart rate is not controlled like it needs to be, so I don't get the proper blood supply to my brain. It leaves me with severe "brain fog".

I just felt like my paper didn't go together like I wanted it to. I knew what I wanted to say, but I couldn't think coherently enough to get it on paper. But my professor was satisfied and said it was very persuasive which is what I was aiming for.

This problem, along with being able to comprehend and retain knowledge, is my biggest challenge I face with college now.

Great job. I too started back to college this year. I was a good student, but was pretty nervous about the old brain working still. What a confidence booster school has been!

Luvn, then it's even more wonderful that you got an A!

Super job!! Can you pass some of that along to me? I've got 3 big finals in the next 2 weeks...then I'm using my spa gift certificate to celebrate. I'm proud of you!!!

Hey guys! Just got back yesterday evening from a mini-vacation in Pigeon Forge, TN. Thanks so much for all of your support! I can't believe this first semester is over in a couple of weeks! I'm not so scared anymore, and I feel that I really can do this! But now that I've gotten used to these courses, and what the profs want, here I go and have to start all over again after Christmas!!! Ugh!!!

Kaye, Pam, and Missmudd, I completely understand what you mean, I am trying to get all loose ends tied up and my finals out of the way, etc. Only two weeks left! I am so ready for Christmas break!

I loved being at the end of a semester. No matter what work load I was under, at this point, I would keep saying to myself, in a few weeks, it will all be over! Good luck!
