By Missbookworm on Friday, November 18, 2005 - 08:26 pm:

I asked this under my post for my little people, but I shouldn't have LOL

I think it got lost in toy mania (although one person saw it and Thank you!!)

Why are men so darn hard to buy for?!

By Pamt on Friday, November 18, 2005 - 08:52 pm:

Yeah, I didn't notice it--LOL. My DH is actually very easy to buy for because he has a lot of interests and hobbies. However, this year he is getting NOTHING. :) Since we just took a week-long "just us" trip and then the week of Christmas we are all going to CO, we are letting the trips be our gifts this year. Last year I got him 2 photography books and scheduled a photography class for him. I've made him a quilt out of his old T-shirts, bought him flyfishing books and gave him membership in a local flyfishing group, etc.

Today is actually DH's birthday and we are doing the "no birthday gift" thing this year too since my birthday is exactly a month from today as well. I attend college and while DH has been on campus he doesn't really know his way around. For his birthday he got a card with a promise of breakfast and then we'll spend the morning on LSU's campus with his 2 cameras and tripod while I show him the hidden photographic treasures I've found (architecture, sculptures, gardens, people, etc.) and he can snap away to his heart's content.

Now buying for me parents? That's the tough one for me. If they want or need something they just go out and buy it and they have no hobbies.

Well, so far I got him a really neat clock that has poker chips etc for the numbers for the game room. He sometimes hosts Texas Hold em nights for the guys and I thought he would get a kick out of it. I also got him some golf balls, a couple of golf gloves and a new wallet. That is all I have gotten him so far. I agree that men are hard to buy for!!

By Missbookworm on Friday, November 18, 2005 - 09:03 pm:

Wow! that sounds great Pam! :)

That's how he is, if he needs something he just goes out and buys it, drives me crazy!

he doesn't play golf much, he has so much flyfishing stuff it's not funny. The one thing I wanted to get him I can't get unless online with a credit card and well I don't have one. (I was going to use paypal but they don't accept that) soooo yeah grrrrrr

Everyone else (his family) always gives him clothes, and gift certificates and lets him shop...but I don't want to do that lol..besides he always gets me great stuff! (I'm super easy to shop for)

I was planning on asking this same question today. My dh is always so hard to shop for. This year, I hope to get him a PSP *eyeroll* and he's had his eye on a couple of NFL sweatshirts. This year is actually easier than most years since the PSP is taking up most of his gift budget. And men think that we're hard to shop for!!!

What do you get the man that has everything?

That's my problem this year. I have NO idea what to get. He's an impulse buyer and has everything he's mentioned that he's wanted.

I found something, but I don't know if I'll give it from me or the kids. I was at Wal-Mart a couple of weeks ago & they had a Black & Decker "Storm Surge" on sale. It's a little battery pack like thing that you plug into charge. It has a rechargeable room power flashlight, Am/FM & weather radio that also tunes to TV channels. You can also plug your cell phone into it to charge when the power is out! When the power goes out it has a locator light that will come on automatically if it's plugged in & senses the power failure. Living in FL I thought that this would be a GREAT gadget for him & useful for the family! He's FOREVER grumping that he can't find a flashlight with batteries that work! LOL Best part... it was on marked down from $98 to $37!!!

I have missed the target (and the tree) for 13 years! I've NEVER been able to get dh THE present. Whenever I ask, he never gives me ideas, and throughout the year, when I hear him talking about something, I take notes, but it's usually not what trips his trigger at Christmas. This year, however, will be different!!!
He got elected as our township highway commissioner, and so I've got him a very nice engraved desk set for his new office, complete with business cards. (That takes care of this year, now what about next year? LOL) I can't wait! :)

My big gift for Chris is a new NASCAR Car Case. He has one, but it is already filled up with all his cars.

Pam, your birthday is December 19???? That's Jen's b'day also!

DH and I are not giving Christmas gifts because..........we booked a last minute, bargain cruise last week! 5 nights out of Miami, leaves Dec. 3, and his b'day is Dec. 4 - so THAT is our gift to each other. Then we will spend a few days with his Dad in West Palm.

I bought hubby:
Lazertag (I always buy a few toys he can play with and can use with the kids)
Nascar leather jacket
I am trying to find locally a leaning post for the boat.

DH an I sometimes don't exchange gifts. (We haven't discussed it this year! Hmmm...) One year, we just filled stockings, which was great, but I think actually costs more than buying gifts. LOL He's easy to buy for! He loves nice clothes, or pj's, books, or anything golf related. He's not picky as long as you get the right size. Besides, if there is anything he really wants, he buys it.:)

By Missbookworm on Saturday, November 19, 2005 - 12:26 pm:

Janet that's my problem he never gives me ideas!

I can't remember him ever saying "I'd really like..."

That's soooo great Karen!

I thought about getting my guy a thing for his desk too but he has an open office and his desk is packed already lol

By Babysitbarb on Tuesday, November 22, 2005 - 09:18 am:

My Dh and i always say each year thta we aren't to buy anything for each other adn then I'll end up finding money in my stocking.
I actually bought him a electric razor already. He has wanted one for years and my DD's guy friend was talking about his and so I asked him which one he had and I got my Dh one like it.

By Boxzgrl on Tuesday, November 22, 2005 - 11:22 am:

Karen, you just reminded me of "Christmas with the Kranks". Have you watched it yet?

By Kaye on Tuesday, November 22, 2005 - 08:51 pm:

One of my hubby's favorite gifts from me was a mouse pad with a pic of the kids. I actually get him a new one every couple of years with a newer photo on it. It only cost about 10-20 dollars and it means photos with no extra stuff on his desk.
