I got my blood results back...Finally

By Rayanne on Friday, November 18, 2005 - 01:38 pm:

On October 28, I went today to have everything tested, since that is what my doctor wanted from having my miscarriage. They took 17 vials from me.
My doctor called yesterday and left me a message. She siad that everything came back normal except for the Homocysteine. It's supposed to be at 10.4 and mine was slightly elevated at 10.6. I have to retake that one and fast this time. I didn't last time only because I was not told to. All that I had though was a cup of coffee.
The test basically means that I have a slight risk of clotting. If it comes back abnormal again, then I will be put on Baby Aspirine until I get pregnant again, and then we will discuss Heprine Shots.
My dad has a high risk of blood clots, and he said to me, "Genetics Suck, don't they?" I told him, "Well, you got to take the good with the bad." He just laughed. I told him, "I have always been told that I am a lot like you, and now I know I am." He laughed again.
I am hoping that everythng will be fine, but whatever happens, I know what to do now.

Oh, that is interesting. They told me that baby aspirin did decrease miscarriage in some women.

Rayanne, I had a bloodclotting disorder when I was pregnant, it was called APA(Its an abbrev for a long name). It only effects you when pregnant. Anyways, they figured that is why I had 4 miscarriages in a row before Faith. I took one baby aspirin all through the pregnancy as well as 2 shots of Heparin, and it all resulted in Little Miss Faith :)

Thank you both. You have made me feel better.
As usual, I knew I could depend on you all.:)

I'm glad you figured out what it was. :)

I am so glad to hear that you have some kind of explanation and that it is something that can be relatively easy to prevent. I hope this was able to bring you some peace of mind. {{{Rayanne}}}

I agree, it is so much better when you can "name" what is going on.. At least then you can take back some control over it. You are in my thoughts. I hope that everything turns out just the way you want it.

I hope everything goes well for you!

Great that you have that info now, Rayanne.

That's great that you now know, Rayanne. I would feel a big sense of relief! I never had any testing other than pathology. There was never any real information. I've heard wonderful things with people taking the one little baby asprin--it's amazing! Great news!:)

I agree that it is a relief to give a name to a problem and find out what it is! I also did not have any testing done, no pathology either, because we were overseas during our miscarriage. It sounds like this is a very correctable problem. What a relief!!!!I hope this can help you to find some closure with the situation.

I'm glad you got those results back, Rayanne - I know it's a relief to know something, and to know that the doctors can do something to help prevent it in the future. :)
