What kind of Car Seat do you have?

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion Archive: Archive October 2005: What kind of Car Seat do you have?

I'm just curious, for those Moms with toddlers, what kind of car seat do you have? What do you like/not like about it?

I need to buy a new one for Matthew, we have an Alpha Omega Deluxe (Eddie Bauer) 3 in 1. There is something wrong with the seat. It is very difficult to tighten and I worry everytime I go out. Matthew can also undo the buckle that goes on the chest. I going to send the car seat back to the manufacturer but I need to buy a new one first.

Any suggestions on good car seats?

Thanks

We have the Graco Comfort Sport and I love it. It's really comfortable, washable, and easy to use and work with.

Kaitlyn has the Britax Roundabout. Honestly, I don't have any complaints. I like it.

Is Matt rear facing or forward facing? If still rear facing I'd recommend a convertible carseat like a Britax Roundabout, Evenflo Triumph or Graco ComfortSport. If he's forward facing I'd suggest a combination carseat like a Graco Cargo or Evenflo Chase.

Whatever you get, be sure to get one with a 5 pt. harness and front harness adjuster. :)

CarSeatData.org must be having server problems. Keep trying. It's a good resource. They also have a Compatibility Database.

My favorite 5 pt harness seats DD has used have been the Britax Roundabout, and then the Britax Marathon. Now, we use the Britax Parkway Booster seat.

For the next baby, when he's out of the infant carrier, we'll probably use the Marathon rear facing or else buy another Roundabout. It was my favorite.:)

Oh yeah, and for extra's we use the Britax StarRiser booster and the Britax laptop for lap belt only situations. Hmmm...I see a theme here. ;)

OMG! We also have a Britax Bodyguard booster. Ok, Trina! Holy Smokes--you must have rubbed off on me. Geez! I'm a little embarrassed! LOL

In my defense--the StarRiser will soon be outdated (We got it from Trina for a spare) and so, then I'll have just the 2 boosters; one for each car.

Britax Marathon...LOVE it. It's going to last a long time too. I've heard no-so-good things about the Alpha Omega.
I found mine on froogle.com and comparison shopped. It was at our door in a week! Lookout for hidden shipping costs though! :)
Hope this helps!

We got the britax husky. I think Trina recommended Britax or she has one...

By Trina~moderator on Monday, October 31, 2005 - 10:14 am:

Yes, Britax makes NICE seats, but there are other good seats as well. Heaventree is in Canada, where not all Britax seats are available, and the ones that are available are very expensive.

We had the Britax Marathon for ds. We loved it. Now, both my ds's are in booster. My youngest is in the Britax Parkway Booster. My oldest is in the backless Graco booster.

I think there is a store called the Safety Super Store that now carries Britax, I will check it out.

Thanks everyone!
