I need help with a card

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion Archive: Archive October 2005: I need help with a card

I am sending a card to my mom to give to this lady that she knows. She loves my daughter. This lady has terminal cancer and is getting married next month. She will be in on Wednesday to get some stuff done, my mom is a cancer nurse, and I wanted to send her a nice card and a picture of Rylee because I will not be able to see her that day. What could I say in the card to make her feel good? The doctors have given her about 1 year and a half to 2 years to live.

I can't help with what to say on the card, but a local woman does healing baskets for people and you might find some ideas there.

Hmmm tough one. She obviously must have some great faith and a supportive fiance to marry someone who is going to die soon. I know we are guaranteed any days, but I can't imagine knowing my spouse was going to die.

As for the card, probably something simple like. Cherished Memories last in the heart forever, what a memorable day your wedding will be! Congrats.

Is this a wedding card or just a thinking of you card?

By Mrsheidi on Friday, October 28, 2005 - 07:26 pm:

I would say just stick with the wedding theme, just like you would anyone else! I'm sure her cancer is on her mind all of the time and doesn't need to be reminded of it.
I would just tell her what new things Rylee is doing, say congrats on the wedding ("I couldn't think of a more beautiful bride") and that your house is open for visiting any time! :)

I sent her a wedding card and signed our names. Then I had Rylee draw a picture and put a picture of her in the envelope. I didn't know what to say, and I think a hand drawn picture for her from Rylee is better than anything I could ever say.
