My great aunt will turn 100 in December. She is still sharp as a tack. We are having a party for her in December and I need some creative gift ideas.

colette,

this isn't a gift idea but a neat idea that we did when my grandma turned 100. We all released balloons with her name and address in them and invited people to send her birthday cards commemorating the occasion. She was thrilled with the responses!!! And it was fun seeing how far the balloons traveled!!!

A memory book is fun. Asking everyone who comes and those too far away to get there to type (large) a favorite memory she inspires. A combined donation to a charity that she chooses is also a great remembrance.

We did a scrapbook of the party for a similar situation. First page had invitation. Took a picture of each person/family as they arrived, then arranged the picture on a page with the card they brought and a picture of the present if they brought one. She enjoys looking at it still.

The guest of honor also appreciated gift certificates, plants and cash (she has a limited income).

The memory book is great idea, especially if you could put some pictures in it.
