HotSlings ~ Does anyone have one?

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion Archive: Archive October 2005: HotSlings ~ Does anyone have one?
By Heaventree on Tuesday, October 4, 2005 - 04:01 pm:

I'm looking for a new sling - I hate mine and so does Cameron. We have a Maya Wrap sling with rings and we can't get comfortable. He wants to be held all the time.

A few days ago I held him from 4 am to 4 pm.

Anyway, I tired of spending money on things that don't work, but I liked the look of these slings.

Does anyone have one? If you do, do you like it? If yes/no why?

Here's a link if you don't know what I'm talking about:

TIA!

FWIW, I had a sling and only used it during the newborn stage. After that it just wasn't comfortable and hurt my back. I preferred the Baby Bjorn carrier. It felt much more secure and comfortable and I was still able to chase after DS, who was a toddler at the time. DD was a fussy baby who needed to be held A LOT. The Baby Bjorn was great!

Ditto Trina. We absolutely LOVED our Baby Bjorn and actually just stopped using it recently and dd is 15mths! (Small though!) I always put her in it during the day when she was fussy and most often she fell asleep there.
Sorry..no help on the hot sling. Never heard of those!

I loved our sling and used it until my ds was over a year. He was a BIG baby, too. I'm not a fan of the carriers but used a Baby Bjorn sling and it was so comfortable. I hope you're able to find one that is comfortable for you.

Honestly what I found with slings is it isn't which one you use, but knowing how to use it. God to your le leche club meeting and ask someone for a demo. I had one with all three kids and didn't use it for the first two because it wasn't comfy, etc. With number 3 i had a hands on demo, with me and my baby and he lived in that thing, till he was about 2 we used that sling. He would probably still go for it now (he is 8...LOL) but each age you carry them so differently.

That was one sling I looked at when trying to find one that would fit my needs, I hold Lauren all day too. I ended up buying one off of ebay from a woman that makes them in Singapore (sling). But I am going to buy a Hotsling as well I looked at them on attachedtobaby.com, I think they are different fabrics and they are $42 there and $50 for reversible. Good Luck. The Sling market is a LARGE one. If I ever had the okay from DH I would buy this one...Storchenwiege Have you looked at wraps or just slings, are you going to want to nurse in it? I can nurse awesome in mine, especially the football hold.

Candis,

I don't want anything that I have to tie, button, zip etc. That's why I like the Hot Sling, not to mention all the cool colours and fabrics. I love the reversible ones!

I have no patience for the learning curve it takes for all the wraps and stuff. I have had people show me a few times and it always works great when they are there but as soon as we're home and we try it on our own it never works and Cameron usually ends up crying.

The one you have looks very similar to the Maya Wrap that I have. I just can't get the hang of it.

There is a gal in my choir who uses this. On Sunday, Laura was all sitting up and alert and pretty soon she laid her head down and a little while later, she was all snuggled in there and asleep! She is almost 5 months old.
