Pregnant and worried about weight...

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion Archive: Archive October 2005: Pregnant and worried about weight...
By Anonymous on Tuesday, October 4, 2005 - 08:02 am:

I am going anon because I have had 3 miscarriages and don't want to announce pregnancy yet. Thought the other pregnancy ended themselves without a heart beat at 8 or 9 weeks.

I went on the scale today and found I had only gained 2 and 1/2 pounds for 16 weeks pregnant.

I often throw up my whole dinner (Not on purpose - morning sickness) Yesterday I threw up my 2 o'clock snack of steak and yogurt milk shake and my dinner of toast at 7:30pm)

I made myself eat a small sandwich even though it was late. I get discovered I get headache if I don't eat and drink water.

I have been walking slowly every single day for about a hour or and hour and 1/2 a day. I walk like a snail. No rushing - just a leisurely pace. I already feel like I am breathing for two alittle bit. It is the only thing that makes me feel less sick. Else I would be sitting on the couch feeling sick.

I guess I am worrying about nothing right. The baby feels like it is getting bigger.

I could not eat anything untill last week - all I could eat was toast and crackers and cheese. Last week I could eat chicken and pork chops. I can also eat yogurt and single slice of meat in sandwich with mayo. I am still throwing up maybe once a day but at least I don't feel so sick all day long. I was sick sporatically through out my last pregnancy.

So what do you think? Am I worrying unnecessarily? I was 146 before getting pregnant with is just normal weight at five foot and three inches. One more pounds and I would have been considered overweight anyway.

Last pregnancy I gained 38 pounds. 3 pounds over recommened weight. I spilled alittle protein into the urine once. I forget what that means... I didn't exercise much during my last pregnancy because we had just moved into our house and I wasn't used to the neighborhood or something. My last baby was big at 8 pound 7 ounces with no complications.

I don't think I could eat any more anyway because if I eat too much at once or within 6 hour period I throw up anyway. One thing that doesn't agree with me throws up everything for 6 hours.

Everyone is different. I lost weight during my first trimester and gained very little throughout my whole pregnancy because I ate very healthfully. Weight gain is not necessarily a sign tha the pregnancy is going well.

I'll keep you in my prayers. It sounds like you are doing what you can.

With my first pg I was so sick, by time it was all over I had gained a whopping 9 pounds, my daughter weighed 8.1. As long as you trying to eat, seeing your doc etc, things can be fine if you don't gain much weight.

I lost weight the first trimester, too. The morning sickness was horrid!!! But, it all came later!! LOL!!

You're nervous and worried. Who feels like eating when you're nervous and worried? You'll start gaining!

I'll be thinking of you!

I didn't gain any weight, in fact I lost a few lbs, during the 1st trimester with my 2nd ds. I was just so sick. I couldn't eat much and had morning sickness all day long. I ended up gaining 20 lbs that pregnancy and ds was a whooping 8 lbs 9 oz.

Try not to worry so much. I know easier said then done. You are trying to eat and walking(which is great), sounds like you are doing the best you can.

My 2nd pregnancy, I lost 12 lbs. the first 10 weeks. Then I GAINED almost 40 lbs., because all I could keep down were carbs. The first 3 months I could not keep ANYthing at all down. I had an u/s and the baby was healthy, pregnancy progressing normally, so my OB told me the most important thing at that point was staying hydrated.

You're doing what you can, and it sounds like you ARE getting some nourishment. So concentrate on staying hydrated and just eat what you can keep down.

What does your OB say? It sounds like your pregnancy is progressing normally, and I am so happy for you (I *think* I know who you are!).

At 25 weeks, I was down 25 lbs from my pre-pregnancy weight. At 39 weeks I was still down 8 lbs. Raya weighted 6 lbs 7 ozs and was perfectly healthy. However, I was overweight to begin with.

When I delivered my daughter I dropped down to 120 lbs, I'm 5'9. I was so worried about her, and I could not keep ANYTHING down. I had to eat every two hours, lots of protein. The Dr.s were not too worried, they would take blood every time I went in to check everything out. I know the stress girl, believe me. My little girl was almost 8lbs.

I too lost weight the first 20 weeks of my pregnancy with both my boys due to constant morning sicknes, which lasted the entire pregnancy. It was worst the first half of the pregnancy. I was in and out of the hospital for dehydration. Despite all of this both my boys were healthy. Josh was 7.12 lbs and Jordan was almost 7 lbs. Just try to eat healthy when you can and take pre-natal vitamins if you can keep it down. Good luck!

I lost weight with dd bc I went from eating so much junk food to eating like a nutrition expert. DD was 7 lbs 15 oz. I only weighted 8 lbs more at delivery than I did when I got pregnant.

Take your vitamins if you can. Try children's chewables if nothing else. Eat what you can. Talk to you dr. And try not to worry.

Easy for me to say.....
