Red beans and rice help

I have a pot bubbling on the stove, it smells and tastes YUMMY. My questions are, do you let the beans break down and have it turn more into chili or do you leave it kind of soup like. Do you use sticky rice or not? What do you serve with it? Thanks, want to have this turn out the best it can be.

and what ratio for rice to beans? More rice? More bean mix?

By Debbie on Tuesday, September 20, 2005 - 06:16 pm:

I take out a few beans and mash them up and then add them back, so it thickens up. As far as the rice, I just make regular white rice. I usually serve it with cornbread.

I serve it with less rice. I usually put a scope of rice in a bowl and then pour the bean mixture over the top

that should be scoop of rice

I do what Debbie does, right down to the cornbread! I also serve a tossed salad.

Oh bummer, Miss Mudd! I'll have to try it, if we ever get some cooler weather in Sheboygan. 81 today. 85 tomorrow. Average daily high should just be in the 70's. Apparently, it's on the way! (I'm so ready for fall!)
