Looking for fabulous Christmas ideas!

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion Archive: Archive October 2005: Looking for fabulous Christmas ideas!
By Eve on Tuesday, September 20, 2005 - 02:26 pm:

I've started my Christmas shopping, because I know come the end of November or December, I won't feel like shopping. (I'm due Dec. 10th)

I can't quite decide on what to get my DD. (4 1/2) I don't want to go overboard. (We have around 35 people to buy for and it cost a small fortune! Eek!) I usually fill a stocking (I've picked up a few goodies)and I like one larger type gift from Santa to be left out in front of the tree, not wrapped. Last year, it was a scooter and the year before a pretty doll in a bed.

I picked her up some doll clothes and a Color Pixter so far. I was thinking of getting her the doll pack n play and the stroller set with car seat carrier. (Since I'll be using those things for the baby.)

She really wants one of the dolls that you have made to look like them, but holy smokes, they are over $100! If I knew she would really play with it, then I would, but generally her dolls get tossed around and abused....Not a chance! I'm thinking of going with the groovy girls, since they can be thrown into a toy box. LOL I just hate to go overboard!!

Are you getting your kids or family anything wonderful? I could use some ideas for all age groups!!

Katelyn has been asking for a purple computer. She loves to get on here and play on nick jr. She also said she wants earrings, and clothes. Last night it was pitiful, she broke down crying and said, "Mom, I don't want alot of toys" (we just got rid of alot of toys in her room and it is still hard for her to clean it...still too many :() But her birthday is October so she is getting some for her birthday and some for Christmas. I have seen the whole "graco set for baby dolls" and that is so cute and realistic, I think Sydney would love that. I have to start my shopping soon. oops..lol

I wish I could think of ideas for that age group 4-5. Alissa will be 5 on the 27th and for Christmas I have NO idea what to get. I just got done after a few hours cleaning her toys in her room and she has way too much now!
SO anyone with any great ideas please share:)
I bought one Christmas present so far and thats a Pearl Jam watch for my DS who is 19. I am always last minute for Christmas!

We got Peyton this art table for her birthday last year:

table

She uses it all the time. Griff often goes in her room to use it as well.

My twinn is the doll that you get made to look like your child. My daughter has one. She played with it and the hair got messed up (curly hair to begin with so it didn't brush well), and one of the arms broke. She was not played rough with--just loved and cuddled. The doll doctor cost us another $100! We have over $300 in that My twinn doll. If I were to do it again I would buy an american girl doll. They are adorable and have a lot of fun accessories.
I am done Christmas shopping :)
My children are getting:
11 year old Daughter: Password journal, several Polly Pocket sets, a Casio keyboard, an electric guitar (childrens), clothes, a purse full of bath products and lipglosses, and a charm bracelet watch made by Brighton company in support of breast cancer research.
9 year old Son: A microscope with several slides, a few Playstation games, a bike, the robosapian robot, a remote control car, gears add-ons to go with his gears! gears! gears! set, and clothes.
I recommend....The gears! gears! gears! set. It is awesome and perfect for ALL ages and both boys and girls. There are many add-ons. My son received his first set 3 years ago and he still loves playing with it (as does my daughter)

My kids are grown, but the only one I've gotten Christmas down for is oldest DS - I got him a JVC home theatre system at a Sam's auction - I paid less than 1/3 of the original cost!

Jen wants an Ipod, no clue what to get Jules or Jeff, and Madison, young as she is, wants one of those portable DVD players. She has tons of toys, and I've already gotten some DVD's for her, so I may get that for her.

Just saw an adorable doll your daughter might like. It is called "Only hearts club doll". It is a poseable soft bodied doll and comes with a book that describes her favorite hobby. Very cute!

Melanie! I love that table! Where did you get it? What's it called?

By Melanie on Friday, October 14, 2005 - 10:26 am:

There are several places on-line that have it, all at slightly different prices and shipping rates. Do a search for "Alex art table" and you will find them. :)

The cool thing that you can't really see in the picture is that there is a paper roll hanger underneath the table. You put a roll of butcher paper on this and it feeds up through a long, thin hole in table. Stretch the paper across the table and feed it underneath a paper cutter. It is a very useful feature!

I am glad you like it!
