I am really needing a digital camera now. I am looking for a Nikon or Canon. What do you suggest?? Any thoughts are welcome, what should I look for in a digital camera?? I should ask my Aunt but her Cameras are over a thousand, and I don't want to spend more than 500. Maybe that will be possible. I just want to take good close-ups of the girls and nature. TIA

I have a Panasonic Lumix DMC FZ1 I love it. It has a fantastic Leica lens, and a 36x Zoom....12x optical and 3x digital. I took this last night.

I love my Olympus digital camera. It received high ratings on consumer reports. I also have a regular Olympus camera that is over 10 years old--they last & last!

I LOVE my Kodak Easy Share. It's easy to use and takes wonderful photos. I have the DX4530, 5mp, which is about 2 years old now and I'm not even thinking of getting the newer model. Never had any problems with it and will buy another Kodak when the time comes.

I bought a Canon G2 on Ebay (one of the older in the G series, but got GREAT reviews) for under $250. I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. It has short movie capability, tons of features, and you can change lenses and add flashes if you want to. 4MP, I *think* it's 5x optical zoom, I know it also has 11x digital zoom. Clear, crisp pictures, awesome night shots, I really enjoy this camera. My first digi was a Kodak, not bad for starting, but not impressive!.

I have a Kodak DX6490, and I love it! It has a 10x optical zoom, which is something I was definitely looking for. It will also take movies for as long as the space that is left on the card, so it could be over an hour. My last one would only take 1 minute clips. It's easy to use, and has lots of fun settings. I paid under $400 in Canada, so I'm sure it's less there.
