He broke his glasses--Again!!!

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion Archive: Archive September 2005: He broke his glasses--Again!!!

Remember I posted back in June that Robin had broken his glasses??? Well he did it again! The same way!!! He pushed them up on his nose and they snapped. They were only 3 1/2 months old. I'm not going back to Wal-Mart again. Obviously that brand/style isn't a very good choice for him. I might let them know that, but I don't want another pair. He's been complaining the rx isn't right anyway, so I'm calling the eye doctor Monday to have a checkup. He was just seen last November, but his rx could have changed. I know mine has. Half the time I wonder if my contacts are in the right eyes! So we'll probably get him contacts since dh's new insurance (new job) covers them up to $150, and then we'll probably go to one of those places that offers two pair of glasses for $99. Oh the joys of parenting...

We take our dd to Walmart. Go in there and tell them what happened. They should have a year warranty on them. At least get his pair fixed and then go somewhere else. I know that in our store I get many flies with alot of honey....if you know what I mean. :)

Oh, Annie, I'm sure they would replace them--again. They did last time stating it was a manufacturer defect. But if Robin needs a new rx anyway there isn't much point in them doing that. Like I said, I might let them know anyway. If those frames keep breaking the manufacturer really needs to know. They're supposed to be the bendy, unbreakable frames. Robin really should be with their quality control department. I've learned never to use the words "Robin" and "unbreakable" in the same sentence! lol I'll let you know what happens. :)

You can buy insurance on them too... I think it is $25 for kids glassess?

I was hard on glasses as a kid, too! I was only 5 when I got mine for the first time!

My last pair of glasses, though, were kind of fragile and I didn't realize that when I picked them out. They also fell apart in just a few months. The guy at the optical shop replaced them, new lenses and all. I tell you, I really wasn't that hard on them. It just wasn't a very sturdy design. When I picked out the replacement frames, I looked for some that were beefier by the hinges. They have stood the test of time!
