Uterine Rupture?

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion Archive: Archive September 2005: Uterine Rupture?

I am considering a VBAC, and was wondering if anyone could give me some personal insight on uterine rupture.

Has this ever happened to you or anyone you know? Was mama and baby ok?

I've read and researched on this like crazy. So, just wanted to get some info. from real people w/ real stories.

Thanks everyone :)

It did not happen to me but it did happen to a girl that I used to work with. Mom and baby did end up being ok, but I know that it was a very tense situation involving the mom for a bit there. I think that if it does happen, it can be very dangerous!!

I did all the researching too. I drove myself insane with it! I can't tell you how many times I cried because I was so scared, but at the same time wanted to go with a natural delivery. I talked to my doctor about it a lot, that helped me the most.

I ended up with a repeat c-section because of pre-eclampsia.

Most doctors and hospitals that OK a VBAC take good precautions and will be able to take the steps to ensure a safe delivery for both mom and baby.

I know someone that had a rupture, but don't think it was from VBAC. The baby didn't survive, and the mom had to have a hysterectomy. A section should have been done, but the doctor waited too long.
