The hurricane from another *view*

I've been reading the WWLTV messageboards to get info about my area and Pam's, etc. I received an email from a soldier in Iraq, who is in the group due to come home in a week that you've been hearing about on the news.

He read my posts, realized I was from the same area he is from, and asked me to get information for him if I could.

Can you imagine being that far from home, wondering about your family and house, wondering if you have a home to go to when you are out risking your life???

By Ilovetom on Wednesday, August 31, 2005 - 08:15 am:

No I can't imagine being him, nor you and your family right now.

You all are in our thoughts and prayers.

I worry about those military personnel. I hope they are strong enough to handle the situation. This is not something they will expect to see at home. This breaks my heart also.

By Mrsheidi on Wednesday, August 31, 2005 - 08:51 am:

That breaks my heart....
What is even more sad is that there are some homes being reconstructed from Hurrican Ivan!
Have any of you seen the pics on the weather channel? Ugh...
I can't imagine being a soldier and seeing all of this.

Agreed, breaks your heart... Best wishes to them all......

Not to downplay their fears and concerns, but they have the same access to information, these days, as we at home have. Their fears and frustrations are similar to all of the families affected by this disaster. They also have the courage and professionalism that they need to be strong. They know that their counterparts, here in the Coast Guard and National Guard, are doing everything possible to help the families they have left. Military families have had experience in being uprooted and in survival.

I'm humbled by your concern for others in this horrible experience Karen. God bless you all.

I couldn't imagine. Definately, best wishes to them all.
