My grandad was 13lbs! Ouch! At least he was #9 out of 12! LOL!

By Melanie on Friday, August 26, 2005 - 05:30 pm:

Wow!!!!

My Griffin holds the record in our family at 10 lbs 4 ozs. Dh was a close second at 10 lbs. :)

By Tink on Friday, August 26, 2005 - 05:44 pm:

My ds was the largest at 9lbs 4 oz but he was three weeks early. My brother was 8lbs 12 oz and was 6 weeks early. He was the largest baby the NICU had ever had. My kids were all over 8 lbs and that seems huge since my dh and I were 5lbs 1/2 oz and 5lbs 2oz, respectively.

My 8 year old dd was 10lbs 2 oz my mother was a little over 12 pounds.

My dh was like 12 or 13 lbs. he was 3 weeks late!!!!! Imagine my poor mother in law!

My Joey is the second heaviest at 8 lb. 13 oz.

By Kateg on Friday, August 26, 2005 - 10:11 pm:

I was 10 lbs. 12 oz. & my sister was 11 lbs. 2 oz. My sister was 24 1/2 inches long at birth. I was 22 or 23 inches long. I'm the taller one now at 6'4".

My niece was 9 pounds, 15 oz, when she was born 11 years ago.

Of my two, Emily was 8 lbs 1 oz.

My oldest was 7 lbs 4 oz 19 1/2 inches long, 2 weeks early. DS was 9 lbs 5 oz 22 1/2 inches long and looked three months old when he came out, 2 weeks late. And the girls were 6 weeks early and they were 5 lbs 1 oz, 19 inches and 5 lbs 11 oz and 19 1/2 inches. The doctor said at their rate of growth the girls would have been 9 lb babies if they had made it to term.

DS was the largest baby on DH's side and I am not sure on mine. I was only 7 lbs 5 ounces and DH was 8 lbs 6 oz.

LOL Tink...8 lbs 12 ozs and in NICU? That must have been so strange for the nurses!! Gosh, I hate to think how big he would have been had he gone full term!!

By Tink on Sunday, August 28, 2005 - 01:37 pm:

ROFL Melanie! So does my mom! The pictures they have of him next to the other teeny-tiny preemies is very startling.

By Jilly on Sunday, August 28, 2005 - 07:23 pm:

DH was 13 lbs and change... I was 6 lbs 11 oz... needless to say, I'm nervous about what our January baby's size will be!

By Trina~moderator on Sunday, August 28, 2005 - 07:54 pm:

No big babies in my family that I know of. My Mom thinks 8 lbs. is big. LOL! I was 5 lbs. 6 oz. at birth. DS was 7 lbs. 15 oz., DD: 6 lbs. 9 oz..

I wonder if undiagnosed Gestational Diabetes is the reason for some of these big babies. ?? I had GD with DS and had to strictly monitor my diet and inject insulin.

By Melanie on Sunday, August 28, 2005 - 08:05 pm:

Mine was petite next to some of these mentioned, LOL, but diabetes was not a factor for us. :)

By Bea on Sunday, August 28, 2005 - 09:06 pm:

My youngest was 10 pounds 1/2 ounce. I was 5'2" 115 pounds. I didn't have GD but was told I was a diabetic candidate in later life.

By Bea on Sunday, August 28, 2005 - 09:16 pm:

Look at this little porker at 3 months.

Trina, my family is like yours, my brother was 7lbs 7oz, HUGE compared to me at 5lbs 13oz, and my sis at 5lbs 11oz. My cousins were all quite big, but I don't know how big. Shane was the bigger twin at 5lbs 10oz, lord only knows how big he would have been as a singleton!
