VBAC anyone?

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion Archive: Archive August 2005: VBAC anyone?

I know the risks of vbac and multiple c-sections, just wondering if anyone has had a vbac? How did it go?

By Dawnk777 on Tuesday, August 16, 2005 - 07:47 pm:

I can't help you. I tried going through labor, but had some complications and ended up with a second c-section.

My former next-door neighbor had a VBAC after 2 c-sections and had no problems. She said she recovered much more quickly after the vag birth, than the 2 c-sections prior.

I have never had a C-Section, but I did have a vaginal birth with Rylee. I thought it went fine. I pushed for about 2 and a half hours, I think, but it was all worth it.

That would be me! LOL :) I guess it all depends on your reason for a C-section.

With DS I had a C-Section because he was breach. I had no problems with my C-section other than the obvious pain. I healed up rather quickly and didn't think it was that big of a deal.

When DD was born 3 1/2 years later I was sure I was going to have another C-Section. I am a planner and wanted to know when she was coming out. DH wanted me to try for a VBAC because he didn't want me to have surgery again, he was worried about me. So I made a deal with him that I would try a VBAC if she came before the scheduled C-Section date. My doctor promised me up and down that I would not deliver early and she was going to come out via C-Section.

What do you know...2 weeks before I was going to have the C-Section my water broke and I headed to the hospital. I had promised DH I would try for a VBAC if she came early so that is what I did. I was SOOOO SCARED but now I am so glad I did it. I had no problem getting her out and the recovery was a piece of cake, especially after a C-Section. We aren't having any more children but if I did I would try for a VBAC again.

Hope that helped a little.

I had a VBAC. Like Andi, my first ds was breech which was the only reason for my c-section. I had a difficult recovery after my c-section and didn't want to go through it again if I didn't have to. I ended up having a very easy delivery. I was in labor for only 3 hours, then pushed twice and my 2nd ds was born. The recovery was a piece of cake and I went home from the hospital in 24 hours. I am done having children, but if I had another, I would definitley try for a VBAC again.
