SCHOOL TIME!!!

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion Archive: Archive August 2005: SCHOOL TIME!!!
By Kaye on Monday, August 15, 2005 - 08:41 am:

Woo hoo, today is the day for my kids! I have never been so excited...LOL. I normally love the summers and am so sad to see school start. But this year the past couple of weeks have been long, I need time to myself :) The kids are also ready, so that helps. My oldest (my baby girl) starts int school, it is a little sad, she looks so grown up!

It is sad, when the youngest one goes to school. I'm getting tired of my kids telling me they are bored. I think they are ready to go back, too. They start school in 17 days!

Although, we want to go miniature golfing and to the Blue Harbor Resort water park, yet before school starts! Also, they get to go to Grandma and Grandpa's house for a few days, on the 24th thru the 26th. So, they won't be bored, while we are doing those!

Congratulations. I can't imagine the school year starting so early, though. Here in NY I think there would be riots if the kids were made to go back before Labor Day :).
When does your school year end?

We get out the end of May. And we also get big breaks, a full week for turkey day, almost 3 weeks this year for christmas. Our spring break falls in march. It is so hot here that the kids just assume be in school!

My kids started back today too. You know what I'm excited about? 7 uninterrupted hours to THOROUGHLY clean my house without anyone messing it up in the process. The dog is whining at the back door because I've banned her from the house today too. Those kitties better just stay out of my way. Off to shampoo carpets and clean out closets! :)

ROFL Pam! My kids have been in school but they had their summer week off last week, and I have the same things planned! I want to clean all morning and then walk around my house looking at the entire thing clean, all at the same time! My youngest goes to preschool in a few weeks and that is just breaking my heart! I'm sure I'll enjoy the quiet though.

School started in our area today too.... I totally forgot about the school/bus traffic and was late for work.

I guess, I am the only one that is sad about school starting next week. I love summer and don't want it to end. I am not looking forward to having a schedule again. I am also sad because my youngest starts K this year. I am just not ready for it, even though he is. Or, could it be that I hate winter and the end of summer means it is right around the corner. Or, maybe it is because I know I should do what Pam is doing, and I just don't want too.

Debbie, I'm with you. My two are in 1st and 4th, and it makes me so sad to see them go back to school. I love the fact that they have no schedule, and we can do as we please, when we please.

I hate seeing mine have to get back into school, the whole homework, schedule, in bed early, out of bed early, rush, rush, rush thing.

I think too much is put on kids these days, and they never have time just to be kids. Our school started Thursday, the 11th, and we won't get out till the beginning of June. We miss a lot of foolish days for snow.

I also hate seeing winter come because I enjoy all the warm sunny days. We spend so much time outside.

Next Monday for us!

By Jann on Monday, August 15, 2005 - 12:59 pm:

Here too, but I am not ready to get into that grind again. I love not having a schedule!

By Missmudd on Monday, August 15, 2005 - 01:02 pm:

There are many things that I will miss when all the guys are grown up, but getting them out the door to get to school is not one of them. UGH. School starts for us on the 6th.

My son started today, too. His best friends who live across the street don't start until the 31st so he's sortof bummed he's on a school schedule and they're not. They came over last night at 7:30 to play and I had to say, "No, he can't play on school nights."

My kiddo still needs to finish his summer homework. I sure hope it wasn't due today.

Ditto Debbie and Adena. Randy went back the 8th. He's in 5th grade. I'm homeschooling Robin this year for 7th and we started the 8th, also (going with Randy's public school schedule).

I love not having a schedule, for the most part. I do have to work, so I'm tied to that schedule, but I soooo like not having to get up at 6 every morning. I won't like that about school starting up. My kids are bored and need to be in school again, though.
