Cat (kitten question)

I need your help and advice! The kids got DH 2 barn kittens for fathers day.
They are about 5 months old.The male,Gary has developed a cyst of some sort.
It is under his chin.
It was really hard at first ( a few days ago) about the size of a dime.
Now,it has seemed to soften a bit and is larger about the size of a nickle.
I don`t know what it is.
Do you know if a bee sting would cause this??
This morning he was playing and eating some catnip by my garden and I noticed some bee`s on the catnip flowers.
Then I thought maybe a tick,I checked him over good though and didn`t find anything.
I am just worried I guess and I don`t want to call a vet today.(after hours is expensive)
It seemes to be bothering him today too.
He isn`t his playful self.
Sleeping a lot.
He is eating and drinking o.k.
he doesn`t scratch it or anything.
I have never seen this kind of thing before.
Thought maybe some of you might have?? TIA.

My cat had a snake bite that did the same thing when I was a kid. Honestly with barn cats, you just wait and see I think. It would make sense that any type of bite might do that.

With two kittens my first thought would be an infected puncture wound from playing with the other kitten.

Thanks for your thoughts and advice kaye and kelly.Well,I brought Gary to the vet today and it is a boil of some sort.
The Vet didn`t find any type of cut on it or sore.So I told him to go a head and lance it.
Then he had to put a drain tube in it ,
and Gary has a cone thing on his head so he doesn`t scratch the tube out.
He is on antibiotics too because he has an ear infection..
Now they tell me he has to be kept inside because it is fly season here and the fly`s will lay their eggs in Gary`s sore (GROSS).
So I have to clean out the breeze way and set up a little home for him in there.
And make sure the kids don`t accidently leave a door open so our Shar-Pei`s don`t get him.(SIGH).
Well at least it will only be for 5 day`s.
In the mean time the kids won`t leave him alone because they feel sorry for him and the dogs
know he is in there so they are barking and scratching at the door.
My only other choice was to let the boil break open and drain on it`s own but then it would continue to scab over fill up with pus and get infected again,so he would have to be on antibiotic`s a lot which I know isn`t a good thing.
Oh well ,I think I did the right thing ,I just hope I make it through the next 5 day`s.
