Freecycle...again..

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion Archive: Archive August 2005: Freecycle...again..

I dont understand people. Granted, it never hurts to ask for things. BUT, this lady just posted that she adopted a new dog and that she is in need of hard dog food. You mean when she adopted a big dog, she didnt know he would need food? UGH... I dont get it. I know when you adopt a dog , on the application you have to estimate how much it cost to have a dog(Vet bills, food etc..)...
So she gets the dog, and expects freecycle people to do everything else. Sometimes these posts make me want to scream.

That kind of stuff irritates me. IMO, if she can't afford to BUY her own dog food, she has no business adopting a dog. HELLO!

OMGosh...I would have a hard time not emailing her and pushing *send*!
Poor dog!!!

Yes, I have to laugh at the things people ask for! LOL!

I hear ya,we have people on here asking for stuff for a yard sale...the nerve!

It doesn't bother me. Maybe she can afford dog food but wonders if someone maybe lost or gave away a dog, and had left over dog food. It never hurts anyone to ask. I don't often have what our freecyclers are asking for, but if I do, and I don't need it, they are welcomed to it. I needed a bedside potty chair for my son who had a crushed ankle. 3 people offered. That's not a cheap item, and I could afford to buy or rent one for him, but I asked, and a generous freecycler helped out.

The thing that bugs me is people asking for TONS of stuff, and never offering anything into the group, or people who ask for things like "WORKING Color TV, 27inches or larger" "Xbox and games", things people don't normally throw away. Things like the bedside chair you asked for, Bea, are usually something you use for a period of time and then don't need, so I can understand that.

In my group you cannot ask for anything unless you donate.

I don't let it bother me. One of the whole points of freecycle is to give stuff away to people who can use it, that would otherwise end up in a landfill.
A lot of people ask for things that most people would never just give away, I just skim the titles and click on the ones that interest me and delete the rest.
