My garbage disposal STINKS today! I don't even use it that often. I have put baking soda in it, but still stinks. I know that orange peels work GREAT, but I don't have any at the moment. Any suggestions????

White Vinegar with the baking soda (foams up and acts as a "degunker")After that, rinse with clear water, then run a little bleach and water through it. (IF you don't have white vinegar, lemon juice is good, too)

Lemons work great too. Just cut into quarters and put in. Do you have any of those??

I use bleach in mine occasionally, you can try that.

Also, make sure you have cleaned under the rubber drain thingy...it gets disgusting and slimy!

Thanks everyone! Before I read your suggestions I thought I'd try bleach and it worked. I'll remember for the next time. :)

We have a lemon tree so I just get a lemon every couple weeks, cut it up and put it in the disposal.

Pampered Chef sells some fizzy things that help with that. They are a little more expensive that bleach and lemons but they do smell a lot better.

I also make vinegar ice cubes, it not only freshens but also sharpens the blade.
