By Amecmom on Thursday, August 4, 2005 - 01:56 pm:

We have so many creative people here on this board that I hope you can help me come up with a catchy title for the invitations for my daughter's party. We are having her baptism on her first birthday, so rather than two parties, like her brother had, we'll be having one. We're doing an event for about 100 adults plus kids at a catering hall.

Anyway, If it were a boy for sure I'd do "It's a Double Header" and do a baseball theme, but I want something more girlie.

I've thought of Double Feature, Double Trouble, Twice Blessed. I don't really love any of them.
Ideas?
Thanks,
Ame

"Double your pleasure, double your fun" ??? Yes, I know it's an advertising tag line, but everyone will know it and will probably smile.

Twice as Nice!

I like Crystal's idea. Maybe add in "Sugar and Spice; Twice as Nice". :)

I like Sugar and Spice, Twice as Nice!

How about this?
"Twice the Fun Rolled into ONE!"
Get it - she's turning 1 - and it's a double celebration.

Any other ideas?

Got it!
Of course, the center panel has all the church and reception info.

Wow is this turning into a huge deal.

Oh, and here's the dress. Should I get another "party dress" just in case she has a "mishap" (spit, poop, etc.)?

I love the title you came up with! :)
Does she still seem to have poop and spit up accidents frequently? If so, I'd get another one. If it's not a regular thing I wouldn't worry about it.

Wow, what a pretty dress! Mine isn't quite that fancy, but was worn by Sarah, Emily, Samantha, and Stacy! (all the girl cousins!) So, it has a history now!

I love the invitation. Sarah and Emily, both only wore the dress while we were at church. Back at home, I changed them back into regular clothes. Neither one messed it up.

awwww! The dress is beautiful! I brought an extra for the reception, something pretty also but something they could eat in or whatever. My Christening gown is from when I was a baby so I try to protect it. I love your invitation too!

Love the title and the dress is gorgoeus!!
I would just have another pretty party dress on hand at home just incase, thats what I did for Alissa.

By Karen~moderator on Wednesday, August 10, 2005 - 07:30 am:

Love the whole idea! I'd get another dress for the party - most people like to keep the christening gown for sentimental reasons, and possibly pass them on to their children's children. For those reasons, I'd get another dress also.

Thanks ladies!
Deanna, she doesn't usually have any clothing mishaps, but there's always a chance ...

I'd love to do her Christening pictures in her white dress and then do cake pictures in a lacy, pink party dress. Do you think that's going overboard, or is it okay?

I would of course keep the dress as a rememberance. I still have my christening gown which was hand made by my aunts in Italy. Unfortunately, it is for a newborn and Helen is far from that lol!

I'd hoped she would wear it, but with my sil's passing, we wanted to wait a year before having a big party, so that's why we waited until now, in case anyone was wondering.

It's YOUR baby girl, it's HER Christening and birthday party, have as many pics made in as many different outfits as you want! That's JMHO, of course! LOL

Beautiful dress, beautiful idea, beautiful inviataion. Take tons of pictures.

By Yjja123 on Wednesday, August 10, 2005 - 04:56 pm:

Go overboard. It seems like they grow up too quickly and will not want to wear the frilly dresses. Enjoy it while you can. The pink one sounds perfect for the cake pictures. Enjoy the day and do whatever makes you happy. Your daughter's first birthday and christening only happen once---so enjoy! Please take pictures so we can see.

By Ginny~moderator on Wednesday, August 10, 2005 - 05:25 pm:

The dress is lovely. And I like that it is elegant without a whole lot of frills, so you can see the detail of the dress and it won't overpower Deanna. What you want, of course, is for people to say "she looks beautiful" rather than "what a beautiful dress". But yes, I'd have a change for the party, white being the stain magnet that it is.
