YUCK!! We use to have our house sprayed for bugs about a year and a half ago but it started making ds sick the day after they would spray so we stopped. Well now I have noticed that we are getting a few roaches and baby spiders and I can't stand it but I don't want it to make ds sick either. The company we used would just start at the molding and spray the length of the wall and the poison would just drip down the wall and then they would spray the baseboard. I called Orkin and they said that they spray gel into the cracks of the wall so that sounds better as far as being exposed. Has anyone used Orkin before? If you have do any problems with your pets or kids?? I need some advice I don't want bugs but I really don't want ds sick either.

I haven't used Orkin, so I can't comment on them. When we lived in Texas, we had major bug issues, so we used Terminex. They can just spray outside along the foundation. This is what we did most of the time. It cut down a lot on the bugs that would come in the house. I only had them spray inside a few times. You couldn't smell it at all and my 2 ds's never got sick from it.

Check out this web site for Boric Acid

http://www.hytechsales.com/boricdirections.html

It might be something you can supplement with until you find a solution.

My bug complany uses boric acid (they are local). I hate using pesticides and this is the best choice as it is not harmful to kids. If I have to spray, and sometimes you just do, I spray the outside of my house.

Boric acid works great. I have been using it for nearly 20 years. The stuff the exterminators spray gives me migraines so I don't use exterminators. If you have roaches, get some boric acid, place it in small containers in the backs of your cabinets - obviously where a young child cannot get to it, or lock the cabinets with child locks.

We live in the country in the middle of crop fields and the spiders were a major problem when we moved in 6 yrs. ago. We use (ourselves) the store bought Ortho Home Defense on the outside perimiter of our home about every 3 months and we don't see ONE bug anymore! It's really great. Cheap, too, compared with a professional job. You just have to let it dry before children or pets get around it. You can also use it inside your home, which we did in the beginning and they were so bad. Now we just use it outside. I highly recommend it.

More...after we used it the first few times, outside about a few inches away from the house looked like a bug warzone! :) They were dead everywhere and I almost started too feel bad! Now I think we get them regularly so there aren't as many.

Thanks ladies!! I knew you could help.. I think I'm going to try the Boric acid inside and the Ortho Home Defense on the outside. Maybe it won't bother ds if it is outside. Thanks Again!!
