Moms View Message Board: General Discussion Archive: Archive July 2005: Hot weather...
By Kernkate on Tuesday, July 26, 2005 - 09:25 am:

How is everyone doing with the really high temps where you live? Here in PA its been around 90 and the humidity really high.
I just can not imagine how you guys down south are dealing with the temps 100 or better.

By Insaneusmcwife on Tuesday, July 26, 2005 - 09:42 am:

I'm not sure how hot it is here but I know the humidity is high and the mosquitos are horrible. My poor kids look like they have some funky disease, they have bites everywhere, and the OFF isn't working.

By Tink on Tuesday, July 26, 2005 - 12:16 pm:

We've had really high temps for the last few weeks, anywhere from 103-112 but, luckily, our humidity stays pretty low, around 35%. I don't even want to see what our electric bill is since the A/C has been running almost 24/7. The only time we head outside is to run errands or to swim. It's too hot for anything else.

By Colette on Tuesday, July 26, 2005 - 12:44 pm:

It's 93 right now w/the dewpoint at 65. We left first thing this morning and had breakfast on the beach. It was beautiful and we had the place to ourselves for most of the morning.

By Reds9298 on Tuesday, July 26, 2005 - 12:49 pm:

It's SO HOT here in IN, and the humidity is terrible. We literally have only been going outside when necessary. You can't breathe out there! It's stifling. I feel bad for dd but I know she doesn't like it either. We're out there for 10 min. and her face is all red and we're sweating buckets just sitting in a chair. NO FUN. That sounds sooooo nice Colette!

By Debbie on Tuesday, July 26, 2005 - 02:16 pm:

It has been really hot here in Illinois. But, a cold front is moving through this afternoon. We were 102 Sunday with high humidy, so the heat index was 110-115. We were 90's yesterday also with very high humidity. Tomorrow we are suppose to be 78 and dry. What wacky weather.

Oh well, we have just been swimming and then going out at night to play.

By Crystal915 on Tuesday, July 26, 2005 - 02:17 pm:

Ok, y'all can have what we just got. Yesterday it was 101, low was 72., today it's a high of 74 and raining. We've been in the 100s for over a week, but this is a bit too drastic.

By Sue3 on Tuesday, July 26, 2005 - 02:42 pm:

It`s been bad here in Michigan too.You know it`s bad when my sister whom lives in Florida say`s it`s cooler at her place than ours.
She said their humidity level has been 50%.Where ours has been around 80%.
Can`t wait for the cold front that is suppose to move in here in a couple of hours.
Zack`s asthma has been acting up too.
We have just been inside a lot trying to keep cool.
The past 2 day`s have been the worst ever !
Hope everyone stay`s cool

By Cocoabutter on Tuesday, July 26, 2005 - 02:45 pm:

Yeah, Sue, Sunday in Grand Rapids it reached 96, and our heat index was 104!

I haven't done ANY house work! Now, I have to get JAMMIN! I just got a call from our real estate lady and she is going to show the house at 3:00 tomorrow!

Gotta Go!

By Reds9298 on Tuesday, July 26, 2005 - 03:18 pm:

Just read in our local paper that it was 95 yesterday at 3pm, but the heat index was 114!

By Marg on Tuesday, July 26, 2005 - 03:42 pm:

I never thought I'd say this, but I'm ready for winter!

Do you think we'll have a bad one this year?

By Mommmie on Tuesday, July 26, 2005 - 03:51 pm:

This is pretty normal for us here in Texas. Ya know "experts" are always saying, Kids should be outside playing in the summer?? Well this is why our kids aren't outside.

By Dawnk777 on Tuesday, July 26, 2005 - 05:12 pm:

70's cloudy, with a dewpoint of 59! It's actually comfy outside! I love it! It was nice mowing lawn, without the sun in my eyes!

When I woke up, today, we still had a dewpoint in the 70s! The the cool front came through and the wind switched to the north!

Sunday was downright nasty! Even the dog didn't want to be outside!

By Jelygu on Tuesday, July 26, 2005 - 08:33 pm:

Ugh... incredibly hot and humid in Alabama, but totally normal. My air conditioner doesn't seem to be keeping up either, so I hope it makes it thorugh the summer!
It is 92 right now, but it has been close to 100 all week with a heat index of 105-113.
I agree with you Marg, winter sounds so nice!

By Pamt on Tuesday, July 26, 2005 - 08:49 pm:

I must say that I am very amused by you Yankees. :) This is life in the south from May-October. And it's not *really* humid unless your over 90%. If you step out of the shower and immediately think you need another one, then you're experiencing real humidity. Here in the bayous and swamps we get plenty of it.

By Emily7 on Tuesday, July 26, 2005 - 09:25 pm:

After several weeks of 90-100's degree temps our high was 70 and our low was 46 today & yesterday. Tomorrow we are supposed to start heating up again though.

By Children03 on Wednesday, July 27, 2005 - 07:40 am:

It has been in the middle 90's here but rain is moving in so for the next few days it will be in the middle 80's - what a nice change. I am so ready for the Fall weather to get here. That probably won't really happen until November. I have pictures of us last October and we were all wearing shorts!

By Eve on Wednesday, July 27, 2005 - 07:53 am:

We've had a couple of really bad days--if it's miserable out, generally, we turn right around and come back inside! (BTW-Pam, we have had horrible humidity-100% one day. The morning dew stayed on the grass all day into evening! It was the strangest thing I have ever seen up North. We even had the short rain showers like in Florida. Our weather has felt Southern.)

Yesterday was a hot one and thankfully we went to the beach with friends. It was nice and cool in the water with the sea breeze. We didn't get home until 10 pm--we didn't want to leave!

Now, today is going to be a hot one too! I'm tempted to head back today! LOL!:)

By Bellajoe on Wednesday, July 27, 2005 - 08:54 am:

It has been in the high 90's for a long time here in OH. Other than swim lessons, we have been inside in the A/C most of the time. We go outside at around 6 pm to play. I look forward to today-Saturday when it is going to be in the 70's and low 80's. Right now it is raining, hopefully that will cool things off a bit.

I hate to complain because i still hate the snow more than this! At least we don't have to put boots, jackets, scarves, hats, and gloves on!

By Mrsheidi on Wednesday, July 27, 2005 - 01:19 pm:

I can't wait until FALL! That's my favorite season around here!!

By My2girlygirls on Wednesday, July 27, 2005 - 09:38 pm:

We hit the 100 degree mark today with the heat index of 111... Needless to say, we stayed inside today.

By My2girlygirls on Wednesday, July 27, 2005 - 09:39 pm:

Forgot to say, I'm in Virginia...

By Sue3 on Wednesday, July 27, 2005 - 10:08 pm:

I hate this high humidity. It makes everyone CRABBY including me.LOL
And I agree Eve the weather has been very tropical feeling.
Were just like the people down south when they complain about the cold or the couple inches of snow they may get
in the winter months,
It STINKS when your not used to it.
It took my sister (who moved to southern Florida 5 years ago)3 years to get used to the heat and humidity.
She couldn`t stand it.Almost moved back up north. Now she can`t stand the cold.Anything below 60 degrees is cold cold cold to her and I just laugh !
We got a cold front that moved in today and it was a beautiful 72 degree`s out.
With a high of 50 this evening.Great sleeping weather.Hope all of you get a break soon too .

By Colette on Thursday, July 28, 2005 - 08:18 am:

we got crazy tstorms last night and thankfully today is beautiful. I hope we have a break before the next heat wave.
