Sitting here at work, waiting on the police....

What a fun afternoon! NOT! When I took my lunck break upstairs, I heard something on the side of the building. I looked out the window and there was this guy hanging out between our building and the convenience store that is next to us.

I am watching this guy, who looked totally sick, coughing and vomiting outside the window. He started walking so I went downstairs and looked out of my boss's windows. He was out of my sight there so I opened the front door, and he was standing by the corner of the convenience store next door, in the shade there, and he looked just sick. But he stared me down, so I quickly closed the door and locked it and went back upstairs.

About 45 min. later my boss came to the office and I told him what happened. About an hour ago, my boss was leaving and I took the trash out as he left. When I got back into the building he called me to tell me the guy was back and that HE had called the police to come check it out. Guess it wasn't important enough for him to come back, but OH WELL!

The police dept. called me and asked some questions, including what the guy was wearing, which I CAN'T remember - UGH! They were supposed to send a patrol car out and asked if I wanted to speak with the officer. I told them YES, and here I sit, waiting for them.

Now I'm feeling creeped out..........

How strange! Make sure he's not hanging around when you leave work...wonder what he was so sick about?

By Insaneusmcwife on Friday, July 22, 2005 - 05:43 pm:

How weird. Is there anyone that can walk you to your car when you leave? Let us know you made it home ok.

By Tink on Friday, July 22, 2005 - 07:56 pm:

Have you made it home? Did everything check out okay? Let us know.

By Jelygu on Friday, July 22, 2005 - 08:12 pm:

That is weird! What ended up happening?

By Pamt on Saturday, July 23, 2005 - 12:35 am:

We're waiting for you to check in Karen.....

By Andi on Saturday, July 23, 2005 - 12:41 am:

Karen.....what happened???? You better check in!

By Feona on Saturday, July 23, 2005 - 07:22 am:

Sounds like drugs or something. Why else wouldn't you go home if you were sick?

By Kernkate on Saturday, July 23, 2005 - 08:39 am:

How Creepy! How did you make it out to go home??

By Karen~moderator on Saturday, July 23, 2005 - 08:54 am:

The cops never showed up!!!!! I have no clue who this guy was, but I think he was on drugs. On several occasions we have found empty beer/wine bottles and some drug paraphanelia on that edge of the parking lot. He was really creepy.

My IT guy had to pick up my computer once again to work on it this weekend, so I left the office when he did, even though that guy wasn't hanging around.

I'm not *too* worried - my boss knows a lot of the local law enforcement people there - it's a small town - so I have no doubt they will step up their patrols in that area.

Thanks for being concerned, have to admit, I WAS a little scared!

Funny thing, my boss called me last night to ask if they ever showed up. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

I told him if he was *that* worried, he wouldn't have left the office. I also told him I left almost an hour early while the IT guy was there so I didn't have to leave alone.

He then told me he was going to make some calls on Monday. Whatever. Big Whoop. All I know is, there is NO way I'll be staying there late anymore, especially in winter months when it gets dark early.

Karen---I think it was wrong for him to leave you alone if he thought it was bad enough to call the cops. Why didn't the cops ever come?
I am glad you are OK! I think your boss should be more concerned about your well being. JMO

Yvonne, I agree - but the man is 72, and who knows *why* he decided to continue on his way home. He called the office AFTER he'd gone 5 minutes down the road to tell me he saw the guy and had called the police. He SAYS he's concerned, always reminds me to lock the doors when I'm there alone - like I need reminding UGH!. I think we will have a conversation about this tommorrow.
