Baby Names

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion Archive: Archive July 2005: Baby Names

We have narrowed it down to two names that we both like and agree upon:

Ryan and Cameron

Problem, my sister's current boyfriend's name is Ryan. Cameron I think is becoming a girl's name after Cameron Manhiem (sp?) and Cameron Diaz.

Have you heard of a lot of girls these days being called Cameron?

By Eve on Saturday, July 16, 2005 - 08:36 am:

No, I haven't met any girls yet, but we liked it for a girl. Although, it is on my list of boy names. I like both! I love the nickname 'Cam' too. I wish we could narrow it down to two!!!:)

We know 2 boys named Cameron, but no girls. Does it really matter if it is a girls name too? My oldest ds is named Jordan and I am finding that there are several girls named Jordan too.

I teach preschool and we had both in our small class of 30. One girl Cameron and one boy Cameron.

I like the name.

I went to school with a boy named Cameron but I've met three little girls at my dks' school in the last couple of years. I really do think that it is becoming more of a female name, at least around here. Is using Cameron as the middle name a possibility or do you already have a middle name chosen?

We don't know any girl Camerons, but DD is very sweet on a little boy named Cameron. I love the name. :)

By Heaventree on Saturday, July 16, 2005 - 09:12 pm:

Well it looks like Cameron it is. Debbie, to answer you question, sometimes it does matter, Ashley used to be a boys name. :)

Thanks everyone for the input.

I'm sure Cameron has become more popular with girls because of Cameron Diaz.

Heaventree, what I meant is, if it is a name that you really like, even though it is unisex, you should still use it. My ds doesn't care that there are also girls named Jordan.
I like the name Cameron. The little boy that we know that is named Cameron is adorable.

My best friend from high school is named Cameron and she is 23, so I don't think it is because of the stars names but rather an "either or" name really. But I also know a little boy named Cameron. It is a very pretty name.

I went to school with an Ashley that was a boy and he went by A.J. I remember at the beginning of the year when they call roll by your first name and ask what you want to go by, everyone would always laugh... it was sad, I felt sorry for him.

I like Cameron, its not as common as Ryan.

I like Cameron. My cousin's DD is named Cameran. I think it fits perfectly for both boys and girls.
