Just wondering if anyone works at their child's school cafeteria? I am trying to get a job with my child's school, I have an interview tomorrow. I think it would be the perfect job because i would be there for my children after school. Just wondering if any of you have experience working at the school cafeteria and how did it work for you? I also thought about possibly cleaning houses to be available for them after school, but I really want this cafeteria job!!!

Good luck! I used to teach elementary and I know our cafeteria workers with kids LOVED the schedule. I hope it works out for you!

I'm a lunchlady! LOL! I have done it, since Sarah was in 4th grade and she just finished 10th. My kids are no longer at the school, where I work! I like the kids, most of the time. Some try to test your patience! I miss the kids during the summer and it's amazing how much they grow during those three months. Except the neighbor kids, because I have seen them all summer. I can tell they are growing, though. The neighbor girl looks like all her clothes are getting snug!

My MIL was a lunch lady for years. In fact, she just retired. She loved it!

I've tried to be for the last 2 or so years i might try again this year to see if 3rd times a charm lol = ) good luck although i wouldn't want to work at my kids school because they go to two different ones lol and one would be upset if i worked at the brother's school..

Well, I went for the "interview" the gentleman was very nice and went through the whole schpeal (sp) with me and told me how everything is run. It is a company called sodexho. They will have a meeting in a couple of weeks to see who will be leaving and who will be returning. He said that they are thinking that there will be openings in the high school, we were voted out here in ofallon for a second high school and so now they have to add two more lunch periods to the school day to accomodate the extra students. Also they promote within so if some of the ladies decide that they want to move to another position then maybe that would free up one of the elementary school positions. There are also driver positions too. I'll keep everyone posted! He said that he hopes to have some good news for me shortly!
