Roomba newest update of my troubles........

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion Archive: Archive July 2005: Roomba newest update of my troubles........
By Dana on Saturday, July 9, 2005 - 08:30 am:

Good news. The saga continues. As most know, I purchased my Roomba on Mother's Day 2 yrs ago. Ever since it has been nothing but trouble, several calls to customer service and several brand new Roombas of the same model sent to me. Great customer Svc, great product if it's not broken.......but when it doesn't work, boy does that make life harder. I finally wrote a letter to the top guys at the company.

Yesterday I got a phone call from them. The man was really nice and told me I would be getting a brand new Roomba of the new model that has the self docking port. I should be getting it on Tues. I'm really hoping I don't have issues with this one since it will not be the original model which is the one I have always had. I'm sure they have made changes since the original model.

So that's it. A phone call and a brand new newer model Roomba. I can't wait! I totally didn't expect that. He was very nice and also apologized that it took a couple weeks before contacting me. Gave me his number and the number to the Cust Svc Mgr of the entire US incase I do have any problems. Asked me to call either of them directly if need be and not even bother calling the main cust svc number. Oh, and they said to not bother sending the old one back (the customary process). So I have the old one here that runs for a few minutes before dying. I'm hoping it runs long enough so we can use it in the garage.

I still have to say, regardless of how many times I have had to call w/ problems, their customer service is the best around. I'll keep you all posted on how this model works. If it is still working as good in 6 months as on day 1, I'll tell you all to rush out and get one...cause boy are they nice when they work! The floor feels so clean when you walk barefoot. I really do like it better than any full size vacuum I have ever used in my house: Panasonic, Hoover, something from Sears, Dirt Devil and a Kirby

Every company should have that kind of customer service.
I hope it works for you.

Dana, I have to admit that I've purposely avoided the Roomba because of all the problems you've had. Sounds like a great invention, but it has to work well or I won't buy it, despite the company's good customer support. No thanks. LOL! I have central vac and am happy with it. :)

Boy on Boy- I hope you tell us good news. I would love to have one of those!

Thanks for keeping us updated on the Roomba adventure! It does sound like they have great customer service!

Since the Roomba is a round device, how does it vacuum the corners of the room?
