Something simple yet yummy.

I usually do sandwiches (slightly fancy), potato salad, cottage cheese, fruit, etc.

I'm looking for suggestions on something simple yet slightly elegant and romantic yet functional.

It has to be things that don't need to be kept cold cause we're picnicing near the highway on our way to a b and b for the weekend.

Not asking much am I?

The classic......wine, cheese, bread and fruit.

Take cherry tomatoes, slice them in half, salt and pepper each half. In between both halves put a small slice of fresh mozzarella, then put either a little dab of jarred pesto or a fresh basil leaf. Skewer with a toothpick.

Chop together into bite sized pieces
asparagus
mushrooms
tomatoes
yellow squash
artichoke hearts
water chestnuts
put into a ziplock bag and season with salt/pepper/garlic. then cover in Italian dressing. Let marinate over night, but it doesn't need t stay cold.

Smoked salmon roll ups are good too.

Maybe even a cold pasta type thing, with pesto and paremesan cheese.
