Could have been bad

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion Archive: Archive July 2005: Could have been bad

4th of July started out pretty good. We all went swimming and Rylee had a blast. Later on that evening, it was getting close to do the fireworks. My mom gave her a sparkler, and held her hand with her, so she didn't get hurt. When she was done she threw it away. Then they did another one, and my told her to throw it away agin, and Rylee grabbed too high and burnt her finger. We put ice on it right away. Then, we were watching my dad shoot off fireworks, and one went crazy and headed towards us, so we ran. Chris was hiolding Rylle and accidentally ran right into my sideview mirror, and Rylle's cheeck hit it. She was screaming. It is a little swollen, but she is ok. We left right after that. I can't believe that my poor baby got hurt twice in one night. It could have been really bad, but luckily she is fine. She is one tough cookie.

Kids are tough aren't they? Glad she is alright. She will have many more bumps and bruises along the way though :)

Awww, poor Rylee! My kids have had their share of accidents, too! It seemed like they always had bruises on their legs from something!

Poor kiddo! My DD is always bruised from doing something. She likes to try to "fly" off of her bed. Especially with balloons. LOL! I hope Rylee feels better!

Poor Rylee! Accidents do happen. As much as I love fireworks and sparklers, they scare me now.

At a NY Eve party at one of Jeff's friend's home years ago, I was out with a bunch of the other parents shooting fireworks for the kids. One of the ones I brought/lit misfired and went the wrong way. It grazed the neck of Jeff's friend. I have never felt so bad in my life.

I think that *really* made me realize the danger of them - that's the last time I've purchased or lit them myself. I love to see them, but I feel more comfortable doing it from a distance now.

She'll be fine, I'm sure. I guess this is a reminder, not just to you, but to everyone here with young kids, that you can't count on fireworks to go where they are supposed to go!

That is scary!
We went to watch a fireworks show at a local stadium. All these people were shooting off their own fireworks in the parking lot. One came very close to hitting my car, and I got hit in the head with hot debris! It stinks because this parking lot has the best views of the fireworks, and it is just TOO dangerous!
