Pink-eye help

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion Archive: Archive June 2005: Pink-eye help
By Reds9298 on Sunday, June 26, 2005 - 08:33 am:

I think I have pink-eye (conjunctivitis) in my left eye. It is red, swollen, and super crusty this morning and it aches. I've seen it so many times in kids and never had it. I've cleaned it, and I know it's highly contagious, but should I see a doc today or can it wait until tomorrow? Then do I see my regular doc or an eye doc? Any suggestions/experiences on dealing with it until then? It feels better to just keep that eye closed, but that's a pain with a 1year old!!!
TIA

Our ped used to prescribe for the kids. Is there a *doc in the box* in your area? I think I'd go to one of those today if it were me - I've seen pink eye get SO much worse in a matter of 12 - 24 hours.

Wash your hands every time you're going to touch your child. It is highly contagious. Get to a doctor quickly to stop your discomfort and prevent you from sharing it.

You might want to try to call your regular dr. His service may be able to get in touch with him or he may have a dr on call you can call in a Rx to your pharmacy.
