I know that when the guys are in Iraq, their paycheck will be tax free, but when does that start? It's been 3 paychecks so far and they are still taking out taxes. (not trying to sound greedy, just wanted to get everything straight)

I can ask my sister in law for you! Her DH is in Iraq and has been for 6 months.

It should have stopped already. He needs to let his command know that his check is not right. Have they started giving him the extra pay for being over there?

I talked to someone today that said once the tax free stuff starts they will issue a back pay for the taxes being taken out now. But he couldn't say when it would start. He has been getting his extra pay for being over there. That started immed. Thank you guys for helping.

I guess you could look at it as money you are saving, as you are not spending it and you will eventually get it back. I'm glad you got it all worked out. I would save a copy of all of his LES's while he is gone so he can go over all of them when he gets back to make sure everything is correct. State and Federal are the only thing that are not supposed to be taken out. We still paid social security and the other things that are listed in that section on the LES.
