Formal complain letter question........

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion Archive: Archive June 2005: Formal complain letter question........
By Dana on Friday, June 17, 2005 - 04:28 pm:

I am sending my complaint to iRobot about my Roomba (for those who remember, I have loved it over the past 2 yrs giving it the benefit of the doubt with each new replacement). I have the names of CEO and VPs. I am cc: all but my orignal to the Co-founder CEO. It's been so many years that I have been in an office setting I forget how to mail the cc:'s Do they all get their own envelopes or do I just put all of them into the same envelope?

As a secretary, I always highlighted the appropriate cc: names so that I could tell who was getting what on in office memos. Does this apply in my case today?

TIA

I think each their own envelope. You could mail the whole thing in a big manila envelope and put each copy in an envelope inside, but I dont think it would make it to all the parties you want it to if you just send it to the first person that you wrote the letter to and expect them to forward it on to the others, especially if you are chewing them out.

By Kate on Friday, June 17, 2005 - 04:51 pm:

Separate letters and highlighting could go either way I'd say.

What's up with the Roomba these days?? My sister has one and likes it but WOW, is it SLOOOOOOOW!!!

By Karen~moderator on Friday, June 17, 2005 - 07:36 pm:

Separate envelopes and highlight or a small checkmark next to the name of the person.....

By Dana on Friday, June 17, 2005 - 09:30 pm:

Thanks. I will send them all tomorrow!

Well, I am on Roomba #8. I still love the darn thing, just not how it doesn't work (yeah, right, that makes sense). The battery charger does not fully charge the battery so instead of cleaning 3 rooms on one charge, it only does one. This is an ongoing problem and I have been sent several batteries/adapters and various combos of them. I don't have time to wait 12 hours for a charge only to get the exact same SMALL room cleaned.

Kate, if your sisters Roomba is new, have her call customer service and tell them the problem. It shouldn't be running slow unless on thick pile carpeting. They have great c.service, hince my #8 Roomba in use. Hopefully they have gotten things better with the newer models and your sister won't have to go thru what I keep going thru.

Missmudd, no chewing out. I really like it WHEN IT WORKS. I just want them to do something more than send me ones that keep stopping.

I have wanted to try one of these, I saw on the tv that they are going to make one that mops, and omg if that works I would be in HEAVEN. Boy do I hate moping! It is still in developement tho, I wonder if it could wax my hardwoods too, at that point I wonder if I would like it more than the kids :). Hope they send you a new model or whatever will make it work out.

Just as a "i wonder" have you tried plugging the charger into a surge protector strip. If you have varing voltage in your house you could be frying the battery making it not charge as well as it should. Might be a quick and simple fix.

yes, it is plugged to a really nice UPS that DH uses for his good electronics. thanks for the suggestion

Dana, a couple people IRL have spoken to me about purchasing Roombas and I have repeated your stories to them. Based on what you have gone through, I would never own one, just not worth all the trouble you've had.

By Dana on Sunday, June 19, 2005 - 06:40 pm:

Karen, I know that I have talked many many people out of getting a Roomba, and no telling how many don't purchase from exponential tails like what you just told me. Heheee, remember that shampoo comercial "she told two people, and they told two people and they told two people, and so and so on...." Lots of "so on's" I am certain have occured.

I'll be the first to let you all know if I ever get a well working one! I can dream, can't I?

By Dana on Monday, June 20, 2005 - 04:05 pm:

Mailed all four letters today. I sent one to the co-founder CEO, two other co-founders, the VP, and another who has something to do tech. It will be interesting to see what happens. As I said, their customer service is fantastic, so we'll see if the "big guys" are just as good. Although I can't see how on earth they can "fix" things. They've already sent me several new ones and I would be shocked if they send me a newer model style. Don't even know if that would even make a difference.

What is a roomba? TIA

By Dana on Monday, June 20, 2005 - 11:48 pm:

It's that robot vacuum that goes around sweeping up while you just sit and watch or go shopping. They have several commercials for them now. I got mine two years ago for mothers day while it was still pretty new to the market. I have had several problems w/ it working properly and have had several new ones sent to me. I love that thing so much that it just kills me that it won't keep working. When it is working it does a great job picking up that stuff you keep stepping on in bare feet.

By Feona on Tuesday, June 21, 2005 - 04:24 pm:

Great idea. I hope you get one that works to your satisfaction. If you do I will be buying one. :)

By Kaye on Tuesday, June 21, 2005 - 04:55 pm:

off topic, but neighbors down the street have the lawn version...so cool to watch!

If they make the "mop" ba, then I will buy one too!

By Dana on Tuesday, June 21, 2005 - 05:19 pm:

Kaye, they just came out w/ the "scooba" mop version. I've never seen the lawn version. Can you find out who makes it and let me know?

By Karen~moderator on Tuesday, June 21, 2005 - 05:22 pm:

Man, if I thought the mop version would work for more than a few weeks, I'd scoop it up! LOL We are replacing our carpeting with laminate in 2 months and although I am SO looking forward to having the carpet OUT of here, I am dreading the mopping that lies ahead!

By Annie2 on Tuesday, June 21, 2005 - 08:22 pm:

Dana, I, too, have talked friends out of getting one, all because of your plight with getting one that actually works for a long period of time.
I will be the first to buy a carpet Roomba, once all of the kinks are out. :)

Plus it HAS to pick up pet hair!
