Front Loading Washer Question....

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion Archive: Archive June 2005: Front Loading Washer Question....
By Eve on Tuesday, June 14, 2005 - 09:18 am:

Just this past weekend, we got a new washer and dryer. (Mine died.:() After doing a couple loads of towels, I noticed they don't seem very soft like normal. I think I might have to use a fabric softener. Is this typical of the front loaders? I notice it really, really spins all the water out of the clothes, until they almost feel dry when going into the dryer. I'm just wondering if it's just me.

I have the Whirlpool Duet. It does spin out most water thus the reason that the dryer runs less time. Are you using HE detergent? Most front loaders require a special detergent. My towels are as soft as ever so that is the only thing I can think of.

Hmm, yes, we bought the HE detergent. My towels just feel different. Well, I'm off to toss in a load of towels. I'm going to use fabric softener. I hope that helps. Thanks. :)

I've always used fabric softener, even with my front loader. You will love it!

Eve, we got the front loaders just before Christmas and I posted in the past about the very same thing. I do use fabric softener in mine and with towels, I also use a fabric softener sheet in the dryer as well. I think it is just that it rinses the clothes so well and spins the dickens out of them and it takes out the softener too much!! But in my opinion, fabric softener in the washer is a must with these things!! I do love my set and wonder how I lived without them!!

Thanks, Vicki. I thought I thought I must be making this up! LOL I tried the fabric softener with the towels and it didn't make too much of a difference, so I guess it's time for me to buy some new towels today.:)

Eve,
Let me know if your laundry feels like it much easier to handle with this set..LOL
My girlfriend swears she spends so much less time in the laundry room. :)

LOL-Stori, I can already say that it's helping a lot! I used to not be able to do a load with 2 sets of sheets. So, when we had company, I would wait to strip the guest bed until my laundry was all caught up. My sister was here this weekend and I was stripping my sheets and she asked me if I wanted her to do the same with the guest room. I realized at that moment, I could wash them at the same time and they would fit! LOL!:)
