Hypnosis for weight loss?

Just wondering if any of you ever used a hypnotist for weight loss and if so, did it work?
I am not really heavy, just want to lose th 7 lbs. I gained this winter and can'tseem to get motifivated. A friend of mine is going to a seminar this week ($50) and asked if I would want to go. I am a compulsive binger and I guess it wouldn't hurt. We are not going to tell anyone we are going and just see how it goes.

tell us how it goes. I have not read much on it. I guess it could work

I am one of those who would have a difficult time being hypnotized because of my doubts. However, my very obese cousin had tried everything, and his health was deteriorating rapidly (diabetes, high blood pressure, etc.) so he decided to try hypnosis. Keep in mind, we live in a very rural, small, southern town, so this isn't the norm around here.

It totally worked! He has changed his diet, but all through hypnosis. He no longer craves foods he shouldn't have, and she did something with some color, so that when he sees it, his hunger or cravings ease up.

Whatever she did, it worked. He has lost close to two hundred pounds (yes, he was severely overweight and had been since childhood) and has kept it off, and still has a very healthy diet. It has been two years since this was done. Maybe a little longer, so it has definitely been a long term effect.

I think Primetime or Dateline did a series on dieting last year and one person tried it. It worked, however, it was expensive and he had to keep going back for consultations every once in awhile as he would fall back into his old habits occasionally. Good luck.

I dont' know i think that it would probably work if you let it work for you just like regular exercise and diet work if you let it and do it = ) ...okay not necessarily diet per se i guess but eating right.of course i guess it may be easier if you are hypnotized ? i'm not sure lol = ) gosh i help alot don't i lol = )

I had a friend who successfully stopped smoking after two hypnosis sessions. And she had smoked for over 40 years.

It sounds like it works, doesn't it? I would of never guessed. I am a compulsive binger and I'll keep you posted. If it works for me, it should work for anyone. Its not like I'm overweight, I'm surprised I'm not. You wouldn't believe how much I eat. We'll see!

UPDATE: Went to the hypnosis seminar and so far it is working! The first hour was just speaking about food choices, portions and moving more, just common sense stuff. He said he never goes thru drive-thrus. Never eat in front of the tv, etc. The last 1/2 hr. lights out and the hypnosis. I did purchase the cd and listen to it dailey. I did not have lots of weight to lose but am always binging. Well, I haven't binged (I hope I'm not jinxing myself!) I do not eat reading or in front of the tv. My friend who went with me is also doing well. I'd say I lost about 3 lbs.

WTG! Please keep us updated, I'm interested in how well it works, maybe it would be worth a shot to quit smoking. :)

Sorry to say its not working anymore! I really tried and failed. Monday night I was so stressed, tired, etc. and should of listened to my tape. I find it hard to use it because I'm always being interrupted by either husband or kids. I was so aggrevated, ate a whole bag (8) big cookies and finished a bottle of wine. I did well the next day but blew it again tonight. I feel like just giving up and forgetting about this whole diet thing. I'm not heavy but use food when I'm upset. Just wanted to see if other people know of others that it didn't work for. I feel like selling my hypnosis cd on ebay.
