How do you clean a coffee grinder?

I used my NIB grinder to smash up Tums. I now have Tums powder in it. How do you get it out?
TIA

I would use a very stiff brush first, then a soft brush, and then a soft moist cloth, wring out very well. I would be very reluctant to get water into it, but go to the manufacturer's web site and see if they have a hot line or customer service number you can call. One of the problems, as you know, is that the coffee beans leave behind an oil residue and the powder is probably clinging.

Next time you want to crush tablets, try putting them between sheets of wax paper or aluminum foil and banging them with a light hammer a couple of times and running a rolling pin over them. Or buy a pill crusher from your local pharmacy - I used one all the time when my dad had a G-tube.

my son went thru chef schoola nd they use coffee grinders to grind large amounts of spices. so in between they use bread to clean them out the spices tend to stick to it and clean it for ya.
