Examples of resignation letters? & good news

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion Archive: Archive May 2005: Examples of resignation letters? & good news

The good news is that I've finally (after a year of thoughtful consideration!) decided that I'm going to resign my teaching position to stay home with dd. I'm so excited, a)because we are in a position to do this and I feel so blessed and b)because this has been completely *my* decision and I've finally decided one way or another and I feel great about it.
So....I'll be resigning in July from a 7yr. teaching position from a large school corp. that I love. I've never written a letter of resignation for anything that mattered, so can you help? I'm sure it's no big deal but I want to do it right.
Any examples/suggestions would be appreciated:)

Congrats!! I have never written one so I can't help. Just wanted to say congrats on your decision!

Very similar to what you have written here. Address it to your principal and cc the school board if that's required.
Dear Principal,
After a year of thoughtful consideration, I have decided to resign my teaching position to pursue the new career of stay at home mom. I have loved my 7 years with blank school and will miss the students and faculty.
Please accept my resignation as of such and such date.
