Ideas for first father's day

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion Archive: Archive May 2005: Ideas for first father's day

This year will be my dh first father's day. I want to give him something special to celebrate. We are tight on money this year, so I don't want to get too crazy, but I want him to know how much it means to me that we are a family. Any ideas?? Thanks!

Last year I found a picture frame (black) and it had written on it "I Love Daddy!" It looked like a mini chalk board and the words looked like they were written in chalk. I then took a photo of Matt and Al sleeping together and put the photo in the frame. He took the photo to work and it sits on his desk.

I bought the frame at a photo store and paid about $10. I just recently saw a similar although not as nice one at the Dollar Store. Good luck and let us know what you come up with.

I bought Chris a shirt at Target that says, "Best Dad Hands Down" and it came with paint to put Rylee's hand prints on it. I dodn't remember how much it was...I know that it was under $20.00

I've always done the t-shirt paint kind of gift for Stephen and my dad at Father's Day. We've done hand prints like the one Heaven mentioned. We've also done foot prints "My dad lets me walk all over him". I think that the first year I had a pic done on a coffee mug. Presents with pictures are always treasured.

I love the T-shirt idea, with handprints or footprints. That's something to keep forever. Photo frames with great photos are always high on my list too.

My hubbys fav gift was a photo mouse pad I had done for him. He keeps it at work and sees his kids all day :)

I went to the craft store for DH first Fathers Day and bought a Stepping Stone Kit. We made him a stepping Stone with DS foot and hand prints in it, I wrote "I love Daddy" in the cement and put the date.

We have made one every year since then and they are lined up in our front garden. It's really nice to see how much he has grown since the previous year.
