Problems with the ad at the top...

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion Archive: Archive May 2005: Problems with the ad at the top...
By Luvn29 on Friday, May 27, 2005 - 09:41 pm:

I understand the need for the ads, and have no problem with that, but I was just wondering if anyone else is having a problem with the ads at the top getting really big and covering the first few topics on the page?

I wasn't sure if it was just my settings or something...

By Vicki on Friday, May 27, 2005 - 09:45 pm:

It is doing it to me too.

By Jtsmom on Friday, May 27, 2005 - 09:51 pm:

I was just about to say that I haven't had a problem, but just as soon as I started to post it happened to me too.

By Jelygu on Friday, May 27, 2005 - 09:52 pm:

yeah, but at the bottom of the ad you can click close so that it goes back to normal.

By Luvn29 on Friday, May 27, 2005 - 09:54 pm:

Ahhhhh... the magic button is at the bottom of the ad.... I was looking for it at the top like on most ads. Guess they want to fool you into clicking on it!!!

I hate walmart and I hate intrusive online ads.

By Reds9298 on Friday, May 27, 2005 - 10:28 pm:

Same problem here, too. A pain.

By Dawnk777 on Saturday, May 28, 2005 - 12:06 am:

I have my computer set at 800 by 600 and the ad is making the pages too wide, so I have to scroll over to the right to see the messages. I suppose it would work better at 1024 by 768, but then the text is too small.

By Tink on Saturday, May 28, 2005 - 01:49 am:

Too wide for my screen too. I don't see any way to close the ad.

By Feona on Saturday, May 28, 2005 - 07:23 am:

You know I will make them one size and we will see how that goes.

By Trina~moderator on Saturday, May 28, 2005 - 08:37 am:

Feona, I don't see any adds unless I disable Norton Internet Security. Of course, that's not something that's done often.

By Ginny~moderator on Saturday, May 28, 2005 - 09:00 am:

Same here for me, Feona. I added Norton Internet Security about a year ago. I just turned it off for five minutes and now I see the ads. I wasn't seeing them before but I was seeing the stretching of the threads that several posters above mention, including in this thread. But now that you have changed the size I am not seeing the stretching.

I totally understand the need for the ads - I would hate to run the risk of losing MV or having it anything other than free. Every website I go to has ads, and these are reasonably unobtrusive now that you've changed the size.

I did see the Google ads, even with Norton Internet Security.

By Karen~moderator on Saturday, May 28, 2005 - 09:26 am:

Much better now that they are a fixed size.

By Crystal915 on Saturday, May 28, 2005 - 11:26 am:

I'm on Firefox, I never noticed a problem with the ads, but they are smaller now.

By Dawnk777 on Saturday, May 28, 2005 - 05:05 pm:

Yeap, it's much better now. No scroll bars at the bottom! Thanks!

By Annie2 on Saturday, May 28, 2005 - 05:21 pm:

Much better, thank you!

By Tink on Saturday, May 28, 2005 - 06:37 pm:

Thanks, Feona! It's great now.
