Help! this is starting to get frustrating...

By My2cuties on Wednesday, May 18, 2005 - 11:07 am:

Okay.. 3 DAYS past due!! I woke up this morning and I went for a good long walk while DH watched the girls. We have a really good hill I walked down and up once. I can not believe I am still here. I feel good today, real relaxed, not too anxious, but I am just really wanting there to be a change by the time I go to the doctor in the morning, or I would be happy to go ahead and go into labor tonight. So what can I do?? I am walking and will be walking today alot. I am still having the Braxton Hicks contractions. Walking is not really enjoyable because when I start to walk I keep getting a pain "down there" because the baby is getting so low, but I keep going anyway. A lady at church told me to bounce, she said she went home determined to have the baby so she went swimming, and then bounced on a ball and that evening her water broke. Have you ever heard of this, and did it help (the bouncing or the swimming)?? If so I am going to go to Wal-mart today and buy one of those huge balls and just sit and bounce all day. I don't have a big pool only a kiddie pool, but if the swimming works I might have to go find a pool today! I am just really wanting the baby to get here. Oh and at night the baby is so active I can't even hardly sleep, she moves around so much that it actually hurts. I know I am not wrong on the conception date so she is really due. Thank heavens last night I had a really good nights sleep, although I don't know how, I was up going to the bathroom and getting drinks of water all night, but I woke up this morning feeling really refreshed. I can tell I am kind of getting a little frustrated because this morning I kind of snapped at DH for doing laundry...I usually do 1 load in the morning after the girls have been dressed and showers have been taken that way I have all the laundry done and no laundry in the basket, but he didn't wait. No big deal, and I apologized for being anal and told him I knew he was just trying to help. I know he is getting just as anxious to get the baby here as I am. **sigh** Oh well....

Sorry this is kind of venting but I had to get it off my chest, please any experience of what you did to finally get your babies to come would help greatly.

I hate to be a kill joy but I was 2-3 weeks late with each kid thanks to the Dr being anal about my due date and then both kids were big 9lb 6oz and 10lb 2oz. So no help other than to say good luck and it will come. Just keep walking and playing with the kids and enjoy the quiet time you do have now cause once the new baby is here is will be gone. Just make sure all is ready for the new joy coming and it will happen I promise.

I do know they say sex helps and it did start the contractions for me with the last baby and they stayed until I had her so good luck maybe an afternoon quicky with do you well good luck. Plus they say stimulate the brests. That also brings about contractions I know BTDT too.

My Dr also told me squat pushes help to lower the baby and that could cause your water to break also. With your legs open equal to your shoulders hold onto the back of a chair squat and once lowered push through your pelvic area as if you were pushing to get the baby out.

Good luck hope this helps.

{{{Candis}}} I was a week late with DS and they were ready to schedule me to be induced when my water broke. The waiting at the end can be very frustrating but I don't think there's much you can do to hurry things along other than walking and/or getting frisky with your DH. At least that's what my OB/GYN told me at the time. There are lots of old wives tales but I never paid much attention to them. The end is near!

I went ten days past the due date with dd. Remember, the due date is really just their best guess...it will come!! Never heard of bouncing...you probably don't want to try what sent me into labor...a tornado!LOL. Really, you can try everything you want, but I'm convinced the baby doesn't come until he/she is good and ready. I do understand, though. Those last ten days seemed as long as the first nine months combined!! Hang in there! (((hugs)))

That is so funny you would say that, Michele, because my doctor said that if a big storm would come it would send us all into labor (all the pregnant girls at the office). She said something about the low and high pressure or something. That is so weird and the first I heard of that one. :) So.. hmm....who is having a good storm?... LOL

By Kernkate on Wednesday, May 18, 2005 - 12:21 pm:

{{{Candis}}} Hang in there Kiddo:) No storms here! LOL

By Kaye on Wednesday, May 18, 2005 - 04:58 pm:

Well let's start some wives tales...

When I was pg our school nurse told me the answer was peppermint extract. Put it in a bed pan (or sitz bath) and sit above it. Just like peppermint candy clears out your sinuses..LOL So it is something NON invasive to try!

By My2cuties on Wednesday, May 18, 2005 - 06:40 pm:

lol, Kaye. That's a new one on me. :) DH bought me a birth ball and I am going to bounce tonight after church..lol I also hear that the Castor Oil is not recommended by many doctor's because it makes for a "messy" delivery. So I think I will pass on that one although that is what my grandmother told me to do. She said do that and go over railroad tracks..lol

By Vicki on Wednesday, May 18, 2005 - 06:48 pm:

Did you say that the baby is still very active?

I have always thought that the baby slowed way down on movement when delivery was near? Is that just a old tale? Something about them resting up?? LOL Dd was over a week over due and I was induced. I think she would still be in there 10 years later if they wouldn't have taken her c-section!!

By Frasersmama on Wednesday, May 18, 2005 - 06:58 pm:

Vicki, the baby stays active, but usually can't move as well since there isn't much room left:)

And, for what it is worth, when I went into labour it was after a nice long walk (which you've already done) and some nice spicy Chinese food. Much better than castor oil:)

By Amecmom on Wednesday, May 18, 2005 - 07:23 pm:

Candis, if you are so late, and very uncomfortable, ask your OB to swipe your cervix. This breaks the membranes and can start labor in 24 hours.

I was a week late and my ob did this. I'd felt no signs of labor or anything. Almost 24 hours later I was in very active labor and made it to the hospital just in time! (4:00 for a 4:47 delivery!)
Lots of hugs!
Hang in there!

Do you know anyone with a trampoline? My friend came over and jumped on ours and it sent her into labor.

By My2cuties on Wednesday, May 18, 2005 - 10:49 pm:

My doctor did ask me if I wanted her to induce my labor then she checked my cervix and said I was still too thick to do anything. I guess we will see how tomorrow goes, I have hurt all day today and I ate spicy tacos tonight for supper. :) Wish me luck tomorrow at the appointment and I will let you know how it goes. My appointment is at 8:15 then I will probably stay with DH all day so I will get backt o you all around that evening.

I thought of a trampoline but I don't know anyone with one, so my DH bought me a huge ball and I have been bouncing on it all day and I am going to bounce tonight for a while before bed. Thanks everyone, I know no matter what I do she will come when she is ready but maybe just maybe....

By Tonya on Thursday, May 19, 2005 - 08:10 am:

Like Ame said when you go in today have the strip your membranes. Thay say it will send you into labor but I had it done 3 times and still had to be induced but it is worth a shot. I know it worked for my best friend with both her kids. Strip them and then walk and have lots of sex with DH. That is suppose to get all the contractions going. That much stimulation after striping the membranes usually sends someone over the edge into labor. Good luck keep us posted.

By Mrsheidi on Thursday, May 19, 2005 - 09:42 am:

Geez, I couldn't even *think* of sex when I was a week overdue with Connor! LOL! I'm with you on the walking pain too!
She will come when she's ready...

By Latonya on Thursday, May 19, 2005 - 09:48 am:

I had my membranes stripped with my last baby (#4) and I went into labor the next night and had him very early the next morning. I was in labor for a little over 3 hours. I would surely ask them to do it!! Good Luck!! I hope things start moving along for you very soon!!

By Beth on Thursday, May 19, 2005 - 10:08 am:

Good luck today. I remeber these last few days all to well. I was never overdue but I still remeber that feeling of please will this be over soon!!! ((HUGS))

By Rayanne on Thursday, May 19, 2005 - 10:54 pm:

Any news yet? How did your appointment go?

By Christylee on Thursday, May 19, 2005 - 11:09 pm:

I just came on to see if we had an update, maybe because we don't she's having her now? We can hope!!

By Bobbie~moderatr on Thursday, May 19, 2005 - 11:16 pm:

Well???

By My2cuties on Friday, May 20, 2005 - 10:38 am:

Sorry, I went to the doctor and I have some good news!!!

I am actually dilated 1 cm as of yesterday morning at 8 am. Yay! Then I went for a walk and started having some really bad contractions with alot of cramping too. I did that for a couple hours every 7 minutes non-stop then I just started contracting every now and then with cramping.

Also, I am going in on Monday morning at 5:30 am to be induced if I don't go into labor on my own over the weekend. I am getting desperate to go on my own so I have been walking ALOT.

Thanks for checking in on me, at least we have a date, I will have her here Monday at the latest.

By Kernkate on Friday, May 20, 2005 - 10:41 am:

Great News:) Best of luck with the walking. At least you have a date for Monday if not sooner.

By Amecmom on Friday, May 20, 2005 - 01:59 pm:
