I see many of you set a basket for your kids to put away. How old are your kids. My DD makes a mess just pulling her clothes OUT of the drawer. Putting them in would be a real tragedy and hanging them she is even worse for some reason (I think it is easier than folding).

Does your hubby put away his own clothes too?

By Kernkate on Friday, May 13, 2005 - 03:18 pm:

I put every ones clothes away, because more then likely if I didn't they would never get done and just keep pulling them out of the basket. Dana my DD is the same way her drawers are always a mess!

Jessica age 10 & Addison age 8
put their clothes away and are required to fold ALL towels and put them away. They have done this for years (since they were 6). If their drawers are a mess we go through and see if it is time to part with some clothing. They are responsible for putting away their clothes away properly. If they don't they lose priveledges (tv, playstation, etc).
I put away my and hubby's clothes.

My boys are 9 and 7 and they put away their own laundry. It would be a bummer if they didn't do it right the first time since they would then have to go back and do it again. :)

I put away dh's clothes.

Mine are 9 and 11 and they put their own stuff away most of the time. Sometimes dh and I will do it if they're not here (school), but usually we just put it on their beds and they have to do it. We've been doing it this way for a few years. Probably should have started sooner! They're not always neat in the drawers, but at least they're in the drawers. :)

I hang everything except underware and shorts. I got tired of drawers of clothes wrinkled and all over the place. It works pretty good for us.

I put everything away myself. My kids are of course too young, and even if they weren't it doesn't take much time to just put the clothes away so I just do it. I HATE wrinkles and clothes do not sit at my house if they are not in the dryer they are in the closet or drawer. I rarely iron, except for DH's church shirts.

My ds's(7 and 4) put away their clothes that go in their drawers. I hang up the clothes that go in their closets. Now, the don't always get them in perfectly, but it is just their play clothes, underwear, socks and pjs that are in the drawers, so I don't care if they are wrinkled.

My 7yo and 6yo both put away their laundry. It does get a little messy but once a week or so, they have to straighten them up and I double-check it. I try to give my kids responsibilities, even if it isn't perfectly done, just so they realize what it takes to live in our home. I had no idea how to do anything for myself once I grew up so I'm trying to start them out at an early age.

Dd is a baby so of course she's covered, but I have never and will never (unless he can't move) put away dh's clothes. I don't expect him to put mine away either.

My kids and hubby put their own away. A couple of years ago I bought some wicker baskets for the kids, and put them on shelves in their rooms. Now they just have to stack them in their baskets. It's made life a lot easier!
